On 25-26 June 2024, Mykolas Romeris University (MRU) will host the fourth ERUA annual Summit and the international scientific conference "Social Innovations for Transformative Society" (SOCIN'24). Prof. John McCourt, Rector of the University of Macerata, shares his thoughts on the forthcoming summit: "The Vilnius Summit represents a valuable opportunity to discuss and fine tune the ERUA Alliance's strategy and plan the future steps in the development of our shared project. Social innovation is in the DNA of universities like ours which work chiefly in the areas of the Humanities and the Social Sciences. We intend to work together to promote critical thinking, foster cultural diversity and inclusion, and develop educational paths for active citizenship and transversal skills. All this while facilitating a necessary reflection among our academic communities on pressing ethical, cultural and social issues. The strategies that our alliance will develop together at a European level will contribute effectively to creating more just and cohesive societies". The University of Macerata is one of the 8 ERUA members. For more information read here: https://lnkd.in/ddZDZmjj

#Italy's President Sergio Mattarella's recent visit to #China, accompanied by the heads of Italy's leading universities, marks an exciting milestone for both countries. This visit isn't just about diplomacy—it’s about a shared commitment to fostering #educational, #cultural, and #scientific partnerships that can shape the future of learning. In today's interconnected world, global collaboration in higher education is more important than ever. This visit strongly signals the potential for Italy and China to grow together through academic ties, from student exchanges to joint research. These collaborations are crucial to tackling global challenges, driving innovation, and inspiring future leaders. I experienced this firsthand during my visit to Wuhan University of Science and Technology earlier this year, where I was honored to be appointed as a visiting professor for the next three years. The energy and passion for learning I encountered in Wuhan were deeply inspiring. It reinforced my belief in the transformative power of academic exchanges—not just for sharing knowledge but for expanding cultural horizons and bridging mindsets. The curiosity and drive I saw there convinced me of our incredible opportunities. Italian institutions, like H-FARM College, offer much to the global education landscape—especially in areas such as #innovation, #sustainability, #technology, and #international #business #studies. By comparing and contrasting new technologies and educational trends, particularly through innovative programs like those at H-Farm College, we open doors to fresh perspectives and creative solutions. This kind of collaboration is exactly what we need to build a future-ready education system. Beyond technologies and formal programs, what truly stands out is the need to 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐭—essential elements when teaching the young generation. #Education isn’t just about skills; it’s about 𝘯𝘶𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸, 𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘩𝘺, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘭𝘥. By embracing diverse cultural approaches, we help students appreciate different ways of thinking, fostering genuine mutual understanding and respect. The presence of 𝘐𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘤𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘪𝘤 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴 alongside President Mattarella highlights a deliberate effort to make education a key pillar of the relationship between Italy and China. This is about investing in people, ideas, and shared growth—recognizing that education, at its heart, is the most powerful tool for building a brighter future together. 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐞𝐧𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭. What role do you see for international academic partnerships in shaping how we educate the next generation? #ChinaBusinessStrategy #ChinaMindset #HFARM https://lnkd.in/drGkYFdY

🚀 Yesterday the U!REKA European University participated in the ERRIN Science and Education for Society Working Group Meeting in Brussels, where we explored the vital role of the European University #Alliances in strengthening regional innovation ecosystems. With 64 alliances now connecting over 560 higher education institutions and 2200 partners across Europe, there is an immense potential for collaboration that can make a meaningful impact for cities and regions, from advancing #S3 strategies to aligning with the EU #Missions and Regional Innovation Valleys (#RIVs), 💡 José Carlos Camposano from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences showcased how the U!REKA alliance collaborates with local and regional partners to achieve the goals of the EU Mission for Climate Neutral and Smart Cities. His presentation highlighted how the university alliances can drive #universities, #cities and #regions towards common goals. U!REKA partners include Helsingin kaupunki – Helsingfors stad – City of Helsinki, Espoon kaupunki - Esbo stad - City of Espoo and Vantaan kaupunki - Vanda stad - City of Vantaa, as well as the Uudenmaan liitto (Helsinki-Uusimaa Region), and many other cities and regions across Europe. 💎 The added value that the university alliances can bring to the partners is significant – for example U!REKA provides: 🔵 Long-term transformation with shared goals: Thematic alignment with the EU #CitiesMission and strong Universities of Applied Sciences #UAS presence in large urban centres ensures integration with #localecosystems. 🔵 Combined resources & know-how: Larger pool of expertise in research themes and EU #funding, facilitating multi-level coordination and knowledge transfer, sharing experiences with peers for replication and upscaling. 🔵 A bridge between policy, research, and education: Close link to needs of local business, administrations and NGOs, tailored solutions for #lifelonglearning and capacity development, and a channel to attract #talent to cities and regions, fostering #competitiveness. Together with U!REKA, we look forward to deepening these synergies between the European university alliances and regional actors further! The word "models" is generic enough to be employed with very different interpretations by different communities. The models of machine learning are not the same as the models of model-driven engineering or enterprise modeling. But we also have a strong feeling that these different interpretations soon start coming together in the context of AI.

Dear network, I am thrilled to announce my new role as the Commissioner of the European Union in the upcoming Venice Universities' Model European Union (#VeUMEU) 2024! VeUMEU, is a simulation on the functioning of the #eu decision-making process organized by the Venice Diplomatic Society, Venice International University, and Università Ca' Foscari di Venezia, in collaboration with Europe Direct Venezia and European Parliamentary Research Service, and with the participation of BETA Italia, Global Campus of Human Rights, and San Servolo Servizi Metropolitani di Venezia. This simulation happening once a year serves as an invaluable platform for fostering a deeper understanding of EU legislative and decision-making processes. As Commissioner, I am eager to guide the students of prestigious universities taking part in the simulation, from the presentation and explanation of the legislative texts, to the final vote. Every year the VeUMEU’s dynamic environment allows participants to engage in meaningful debates, draft amendments to legislative proposals of the Union, and to vote on the amended proposals concerning EU contemporary real-life issues. The event's unique structure divides participants into two groups, the members of the #EP and of the #Council, creating a rich and immersive experience. Save the dates! The 2024 edition will take place on the picturesque island of San Servolo located in the heart of the Venetian laguna, from 3rd to 5th May. I look forward to witnessing the intellectual fervor and collaborative spirit that will undoubtedly characterize this year's VeUMEU as the previous ones did. Looking forward to the vibrant discussions and innovative solutions that will emerge during this stimulating event. #EUCommissioner #EuropeanParliament #CounciloftheEU #EPRS #Simulation #EuropeanUnion #VeUMEU2024 #EUInstitutions #Collaboration #Leadership
