See TV? When I was much younger, last December, I predicted that #MergersandAcquisitions mania would be a huge gravitational force in the Media Universe this year. https://lnkd.in/euyx4c9U Long ago, at that *same link*, I also predicted that #RetailMedia would be the fastest growing lane in #advertising. I specifically pointed to retail media as a big driver of revenue on the #connectedTV - billions in *new ad revenue* streaming across CTVs in the next few years (Source: The Trade Desk). Today's news merged these predictions into one massive, game-changing move: "WALMART HAS AGREED TO BUY VIZIO, the companies announced, as the largest U.S. retailer grows its high-profit *ad business.* Walmart and its Sam's Club warehouse chain have long been major sellers of Vizio devices. But in buying the company, #Walmart touted the potential to boost its *ad business* through Vizio’s Operating System, which allows users to stream free ad-supported content on their TVs." https://lnkd.in/gk7nMW9r It's February, and a good share of my Top 10 Predictions for 2024 have actualized. At this pace, I MIGHT be done the list by July 4.
Walmart, Google, Amazon! Oh my.. Every Megaoppoly is buying there way into direct to consumer shoppable media! Walmart+ coming soon! Does Roku feel betrayed?? 🤔
These are the same guys who bought, destroyed and rid themselves of Vudu. Right. History is prolog, right?
I guess bet on retail Media and streaming is turning great. I don't know what are those smarts still working on Programmatic on CTV and why.
Evan Shapīro It's coming......long overdue
“Retail is media and media is retail” and so it goes. Thanks for this and keep it coming _Evan Shapīro

9moI think Walmart is taking a very smart approach to retail media, and tech in general. I think they may have some tricks up their sleeves for a serious entry into the general cloud market, and could benefit from their own content offerings in the future... 🤷♂️
