It's so much more multifaceted than pay alone. Although I would say pay is a top issue. I have seen on social media people share letters that other countries examination boards are declining them the opportunity to apply for nursing registrations in other High income countries, due to them residing in a red list country as determined by the WHO. people have advised via social media that as the NMC and UK do not bar people sitting their TOC (CBT) to use this as a "bridge" to get employment opportunities in those other respective countries. this will further exacerbate our retention of IENs, some do not see the UK as even a mid term goal, just short term to obtain registration for another country. do I blame them? no. if someone is desperate and determined, they will find a way. there needs to be a collective approach into the ethics of red list countries and recruitment in the UK. nursing pay is not representative of the complex skills and qualifications individuals hold. this needs meaningful review.
UK losing nurses to three higher paying countries, data suggests More evidence has been published which suggests the number of nurses leaving the UK for better-paying jobs abroad is rising. #nurse #nurses #nursing #health #healthcare #workforce #recruitment #nursepay #career https://lnkd.in/dwHkBQRd

Nurse Retention is a major challenge facing the NHS and wider healthcare industry today. With the ageing population, demand for nurses is growing, but current shortages in the profession mean that it's harder to retain nurses. The reasons for this difficulty range from poor working conditions to an ageing workforce, and the lack of continuity in working relationships. This means that nurses are often being asked to work long hours and take on more responsibility than they are able to manage. In order to tackle these issues, healthcare organisations must take steps to improve nurse retention. This includes offering competitive salaries and benefits, providing training opportunities, and creating a culture of support and appreciation. It is also important to ensure that nurses have access to the support and resources they need to succeed. By taking these steps, healthcare organisations can help ensure that nurses are able to stay in their positions for the long-term and help create a healthier and better-equipped workforce. #nursing #nurseretention #healthcare
