🎗️ Cancer Awareness: Together We Can Make a Difference 🎗️
As I reflect on the recent loss of my dear cousin to cancer, I am reminded of the importance of raising awareness about this devastating disease.
This group of disease can start from any organ or tissue and later starts invading neighbouring organs. Lungs, Prostrate, Stomach and Liver are most common types of cancer in men. Breast, Cervical, Thyroid, Lung are major types among women. According to World Health Organization (WHO) there were approximately 18 Million cases of Cancer globally, of which 1.5 Million were from India alone. The deadly disease tolls 8 Lakh death per year and is expected to double by 2040.
It is said that between 30 to 50% cancer death are preventable by avoiding tobacco, alcohol, having proper diet, reduced exposure to UV Rays, and pollution.
Having Said that, Insurance agencies predict that cost for cancer treatment can range anywhere between 3 to 10 lakh. Even with schemes like Ayushman Bharat and Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY), each year more than 6 crore Indians are Pushed below the poverty line(Parliamentary Report).
Doctors suggest the “ABCDE mantra”, which offers a straightforward approach: A for A1C control, B for blood pressure management, C for cholesterol control, D for diet and exercise, and E for taking care of one's feet. He also emphasised that the young population is educated, however, the issue is that they are sometimes “reckless” and “rebellious” and controlling such behaviour often demands modulation.
Dealing with cancer can be an overwhelming experience, but by raising awareness and supporting one another, we can make a positive impact in the fight against this disease. Let's come together to spread hope, raise awareness, and support those affected by cancer. Together, we can make a difference.

🎀 Celebrating Pinktober: Empowering with Awareness & Prevention! 🎀
This Pinktober, we came together to champion a cause close to our hearts: Breast Cancer Awareness.
Our informative and inspiring session featured insights by the esteemed Dr. khadija maisam, shedding light on the importance of early detection and preventive measures—because prevention is always better than cure.
The event was made even more special with the support of Chughtai Lab and Wb Hemani, both of whom added to the spirit of awareness and unity. The Pink Party collaboration by Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre was a wonderful way to remind us all of the importance of health, regular screenings, and the power of community support.
Together, let's continue raising awareness, fostering early detection, and supporting one another in the fight against breast cancer. 💗

Thank you to everyone who supported Cancer Research UK (CRUK)'s #GeneralElection campaign.
Cancer features prominently in Labour's manifesto and because of the actions of our supporters and campaigners we know candidates in nearly every constituency heard how important it was to make this election a
#TurningPointforCancer.
Our priorities are now to work with the new Government, offering our insight and knowledge, the experience of people affected by cancer and our researchers to help them deliver on the Health Mission and manifesto commitment to 'cutting the lives lost to cancer.'
This starts with ensuring that a commitment is made in the first #KingsSpeech on the 17th July to introducing a Tobacco and Vapes Bill which will help bring an end to cancers caused by #smoking.
To tackle cancer #waitingtimes, drive #earlierdiagnosis and back #prevention we then need a coherent, joined up plan for cancer - we need a commitment to a long term, 10-year cancer plan. This is an ask echoed by the entire cancer community which has spoken clearly with #OneCancerVoice to make this call and is ready to back and support this long-term approach to improve cancer outcomes in this country.
And finally, we need action to back research by building an enabling environment that helps research to thrive, driving kinder more effective treatments and raising the UK's profile as a world leader in #lifesciences and #cancerresearch that attracts talent, builds investment and delivers impact and patient benefit.
To echo the Prime Minister, this work starts now.
We want to say a huge thank you to everyone who campaigned for a #TurningPointForCancer in the run up to the #GeneralElection – more than 8,000 of you joined the campaign 👏
Together, you asked more than 3,000 parliamentary candidates to champion cancer survival and helped secure commitments from the new government on ensuring the next generation can never legally buy cigarettes, boosting diagnostic capacity to catch more cancers earlier, and a policy programme that commits to less lives lost to the biggest killers such as cancer.
Together, we've put cancer firmly on the political agenda and we’re looking forward to working with the new government to ensure they deliver on the cancer pledges they’ve made.
