As the champions are crowned at The International, we raise our horns once more to the esports community and our partners, PGL. But what was worthy of Valhalla this year? The event featured an intense schedule, comprising 24 best-of-two (Bo2) matches, 31 best-of-three (Bo3) matches, and culminating in a single best-of-five (Bo5) final. Team Liquid emerged victorious, making history as the only team to win the tournament twice with completely different rosters. 🏆 Additionally, player Neta "33" Shapira also set a remarkable record by becoming the only individual to win the tournament with two different teams, first with Tundra in 2022, and now with Liquid. 🏆 And what did the tournament look like as a betting product? This year we saw a significant surge in betting interest. The lower bracket finals match between Gaimin Gladiators (GG) and Tundra Esports drew the highest volume of bets on our infrastructure during the finals, also marking it as the most-bet-on match of the tournament. The grand final between Team Liquid and GG attracted the largest monetary wagers, reflecting the high stakes and anticipation surrounding the match. In a dominant display, Team Liquid’s sweeping 3-0 victory against GG marked a trend: the past 3 International champions have all secured victory without dropping a single map in the final. Historically, only 4 teams in 13 Internationals have conquered the lower bracket path to victory, highlighting the difficulty of this feat. NAVI Achieves Historic Victory in CS2 Major 💥 The Ukrainian team NAVI achieved an outstanding victory in the first-ever Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) Major held in Copenhagen, Denmark. Defeating FaZe Clan 2-1 in the grand final, NAVI secured the title of the first CS2 world champion. This monumental win adds to NAVI's repertoire of achievements, as the organization previously emerged victorious in the CS:GO Stockholm Major in 2021. The grand final showcased an enthralling battle, with NAVI claiming the opening map, FaZe countering to seize the second map, and NAVI ultimately triumphing in the third map, solidifying their position as the CS2 world champion. The tournament witnessed several surprising outcomes, including NAVI surpassing expectations, while other prominent teams like Team Spirit and Mouz failed to progress as anticipated. A key highlight is the Malta Gaming Authority's Data Sharing Agreement with ESIC. This collaboration is a game-changer in the fight against manipulation in esports. By sharing data and resources, we are enhancing the commission's ability to detect and address unethical behaviour in #esports #competitions 🕵️♂️.
