How does expanding helicopter maintenance operations in Lisbon impact Avincis' European network? For the first time, Avincis has selected Lisbon, Portugal, for a major scheduled maintenance procedure on an Italian-based Leonardo AW139 helicopter, marking a significant step in expanding its maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities. This initiative, which involves around 10 technicians working over 10 weeks, supports Avincis’ strategy to make Lisbon a center of excellence for MRO services. VerdeGo Aero has been awarded a $1.9M Sequential Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II Tactical Funding Increase (TACFI) contract with the United States Air Force to build and test the first prototype VH‑3 (185 kW) hybrid-electric powerplant that conforms to a production-intent configuration. The award was issued by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Mobility Directorate (AFLCMC/WLM) in cooperation with AFWERX, supported by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). The contract will result in the completion and trialing of the first production VH‑3 hybrid powerplant that builds on refinements from full-scale prototypes operational since 2020. Following the testing of this version, VerdeGo will have the capability to deliver small volumes of hybrid power sources to clients requiring energy for their ground and flight test programs. SESAR3 ATC-TBO is one of the key ✈️ research projects led by #EIH the EUROCONTROL Innovation Hub with the objective of validating trajectory-based operations #TBO use cases.   TBO should provide flexibility and address uncertainties in the tactical execution phase of the flight – i.e. within the ATC coordination and separation horizon of the planner and executive controllers – for en-route and TMA operations.   The project, which was launched about six months ago with the involvement of 31 partners, aims to perform 21 validation exercises – including large scale real-time simulations – with validation results for three SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking solutions at technology readiness levels 4 and 6 due in 2026.   Trajectory-based operations share a common plan, the data for a flight’s trajectory across all phases of flight, with the aim of maximising traffic performance across the network, while at the same time meeting the needs of airspace users for individual flights.   🎥 Watch the video to learn more about the project or   ℹ️ get in contact with Peter Alty and Dan Ivanescu.
