To what lengths will you go to do research for your next project? I was amazed by the effort the Pixar team put in researching for Finding Nemo. Finding Nemo is a special one for me, as it was my first animated feature film in theatre, and reading about the behind the scenes, made it even more special. Lets take a sneak-peek at how Pixar researched for Finding Nemo. 1. Scuba Diving in Hawaii to experience the world. 2. A large fish tank in the office to observe fishes and their movements. 3. Dissecting fishes and observing dead whale carcasses to understand anatomy. 4. Onboard marine biologists on your team to be as accurate as possible with all the marine flora and fauna. Results? The first output was photo-realistic. The team had to scale down to hyper-realism to make talking fishes look natural! Their dedication didn't just create a film; it birthed an oceanic masterpiece!
