In a recent discussion, Labour MP Fabian Hamilton raised concerns about the party's indifference towards motorcycling in the UK. He emphasized that motorcycles play a vital role in reducing urban congestion and emissions, yet political support is lacking for necessary reforms and incentives. As industry leaders call for action to promote L category vehicles, it's clear that the future of motorcycling depends on better recognition and integration within transport policies. With shifting environmental goals and a focus on diverse technologies, there’s an urgent need for a supportive framework that values all forms of transport. 🏍️ #Motorcycling #TransportPolicy #SustainableTransport https://lnkd.in/eBT-XYCZ

The ACT believes that proposed changes to regulations and legislation governing EAPCs (Electrically assisted pedal cycles), which could see a doubling in the power of e-bikes to 500W and allowing ebikes to be ridden without the need for the rider to pedal, will be to the detriment of cyclists as well as retailers - and need to be vigorously opposed. Bath and North East Somerset Council has decided to pause its controversial plans for emission-based parking charges on motorcycles after hearing significant feedback from the biking community. This decision acknowledges the concerns raised about fairness and data accuracy in charging systems. While it's a positive step for motorcyclists, advocates are urging continued vigilance as future proposals may still be on the horizon. A temporary win, but the conversation about equitable treatment for two-wheelers isn’t over yet! 🏍️💨 #MotorcycleAdvocacy #FairParking https://lnkd.in/eWfgYSXN

Is the decision to re-brand two Bus-lanes outside Oslo to Heavy Vehicle-lanes a bad omen of more such changes to come? We don't think so. Norway has had Heavy Vehicle-lanes since 2018, and there is no indication that the authorities are planning a general conversion of Bus-lanes (where motorcyles are allowed) to Heavy Vehicle-lanes (where motorcycles are not allowed).
Norwegian motorcyclists: will motorcycles still be allowed on bus lanes? The Norwegian national road administration is turning several bus and public transport lanes into heavy traffic lanes for buses and trucks. Motorcycles will no longer be allowed to use these specific lanes. Read the full story > https://lnkd.in/etp2MXWe

NJ Municipalities Owe a Duty to Maintain Roadways in a Safe Condition for Cyclists In a recent decision, the New Jersey Appellate Division found that municipalities have a duty to maintain roads in a condition that is safe for cyclists and motorcyclists, not just for cars and trucks. The appellate court highlighted the increasing use of bicycles on public roads and the associated safety concerns, referencing guidelines issued by the New Jersey Department of Transportation since the 1990s for safe road conditions for both bicycles and motor vehicles. The court also pointed out that certain road conditions may be safe for cars and trucks but pose significant risks to two-wheeled vehicles like bicycles and motorcycles. You are the fleet manager....What would you do? Scenario 1) You run a premium manufacturer tyre policy and your tyre life is 130,000km (less than a year) Scenario 2) You could run a Michelin tyre policy where you get 2.5 times the tyre life and save circa £20,000 on your fleet running cost as you are using less tyres which are also more energy efficient. BUT, the tyres a slightly more expense front end. #moneymaker #Michelin #gofurtherforless #drivenonmichelin

In most bicycle-vehicle collisions, a major factor was that the motorist failed to notice the bicyclist. Bikes are smaller and, most importantly, quieter than cars. That means that a simple glance over the shoulder isn’t going to cut it when it comes to avoiding cyclists. Not noticing a bike is not a fair excuse—because the driver has a duty of care towards those on the road with them, bike riders included. Distracted drivers are a serious issue today since distractions keep a driver from noticing a bicyclist. It is important for cyclists to always remain alert and aware of their surroundings because distracted drivers cannot be trusted. However, their negligence clearly makes them responsible for your crash in the eyes of the law, and our lawyers intend to make sure you get the money you deserve to recover.
