It empowers the government to launch public services quickly and adapt them readily to changing regulations. How does triangular cooperation work here? Facilitated by GovStack, the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation can join forces with other countries and organizations to exchange expertise and knowledge. 📚 This fosters joint learning and the continuous development and refinement of proven solutions, ensuring platforms evolve with changing country contexts and needs. ESTDEV's 🇪🇪 recent grant agreement with GIZ 🇩🇪 helps to increase the GovStack partner engagement 🤝 🔹From May 1st this year ESTDEV will be the lead implementing partner for Estonia's participation in the GovStack Initiative. “Our goal for the next year is to take the possibilities offered by GovStack one step further with our good partners from Germany, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), and Digital Impact Alliance. This is definitely a suitable role and opportunity for Estonia as one of GovStack’s founders," said Andres Ääremaa, ESTDEV’s programme manager for Digital Transformation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Estonia will contribute 100,000 euros and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH 400,000 euros to the project, though ESTDEV will manage the entire budget. 🌐 GovStack is a joint initiative from Estonia, Germany, the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and The Digital Impact Alliance (DIAL) that enables countries to kick-start their digital transformation journey. I have some news to share! I have accepted the role of becoming the Chief Technology Officer for the GovStack project which aims to create an ecosystem of standardized digital government building blocks to accelerate digital transformations globally. I inspired the original vision for GovStack already in 2020 while working for the Estonian government and I can now focus on making it happen in collaboration with Estonian Centre for International Development (ESTDEV) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and related teams. I will also continue working as a Technology Director in Digital Nation, continuing the wider technology advisory work regarding interoperability and architecture and applying estonian and international best practices for the governments we are collaborating with. I strongly believe that a more digital world and interoperable economies are like a time machine for jumping ahead: a way to experience the future which I would otherwise not see in my lifetime. Thus my motivation is to bring the future closer to us and enable opportunities to governments to provide better services to their citizens in a more sustainable way and using flexible technologies and architectures that will still have a legacy - but the good kind. But! It is essential to understand that to make such a wide-arching change a success - which will have global ramifications - requires stakeholder investment. GovStack should be seen as something other than a start-up or a passion project. It is the way of thinking, the way of working, and the way of building that enables innovations in digital governments. With GovStack, it would be possible to achieve global digital economy interoperability on an unprecedented scale, and an unprecedented scale requires an unparalleled commitment from the relevant parties.
