Final few days to take part in The Advance British Standard consultation! Submit your answers by Wednesday 20 March. Over the next decade, the Department for Education are seeking to introduce the Advanced British Standard (ABS), a new Baccalaureate-style qualification framework for 16-19 year-olds. The ABS will: -Bring together technical and academic routes into a single framework, taking the best of A levels and T Levels. -Increase the number of taught hours for all students. -Require students to study maths and English to the age of 18. -Offer greater breadth, increasing the average number of subjects students take post -16, with students able to choose a combination of bigger and smaller subjects, called ‘majors’ and ‘minors’. -Have a clear offer for all students. The consultation is a great way to show the diverse variety of organisations, including HEI's and sector support response within our sector and ensure that creative and cultural education is represented in this work. Camilla Stronati OECD Education and Skills Thanks so much for organising this seminar. It was very interesting to hear such a well-informed debate about the difficult issues around balancing choice and coherence in curriculum and qualifications. Look forward to reading the new OECD Spotlight publication on this issue, too! A couple of key dilemmas stood out for me: 1. How to increase student choice in a way that doesn't lead to unhealthy competition between schools and resultant over-provision that becomes difficult to resource? 2. What broad, transferable, or interdisciplinary skills and knowledge might be necessary to provide coherence and ensure student pathways remain open - while still providing the student choice that is so necessary for motivation at upper secondary level? AS colleagues highlighted, this is definitely an art and not a science!

What an achievement! 42nd place across all UK HE providers. The highest satisfaction rates for all providers in East Anglia. The only College based HE centre in the top fifty. University Centre Peterborough (UCP) is the place to study a degree. The level of pastoral care, our student support mechanisms and the teaching underpinned by pedagogical practices make UCP unique. College based HE is an important and integral part of the university landscape: #clearing2024 #UCAS #Highereducation
