In mission-driven nonprofits and multinational corporations alike, organizations – workplaces, faith communities, schools - are where many of us learn and practice ways of navigating different perspectives. It’s where we are likeliest to encounter people with different backgrounds and identities. It’s where we acquire norms around conflict and collective decision-making. Organizational cultures exert a powerful influence on the way Americans engage in civic life, on the norms of our political deliberation and discourse, and on the level of polarization we see in our communities and across the nation. Co-created by Essential Partners and the 92NY’s Belfer Center for Innovation & Social Impact, the new Share Our Organization Toolkit can help your organization become an incubator for democracy while helping you and your colleagues meet goals, hold difficult conversations, set new policy, and build a culture of collaboration, innovation, and belonging. We are not done at midlife. We are really just getting started. When navigating career and life inflections points, one of the best ways to reach the other side is through relationships and connections. What began as a small pilot program this spring has grown into a series of cohorts with women coming together to reimagine their careers and lift each other up. It turns out many accomplished women have been asking themselves the same questions: "Is this all there is? How do I figure out what's next?" I will be running the next cohort of the Lift Up Connection Councils beginning on November 12th. What you'll get from the program: 🔹 Define the areas of your career and life that you most want to reimagine 🔹 Identify your “zone of genius” and unique talents by mapping your life journey 🔹 Create and develop a vision for your next chapter by exploring various paths 🔹 Refine your vision by receiving guidance and feedback from council members 🔹 Establish an action plan to evaluate the next steps of your journey 🔹 Build friendships that continue long after the cohort ends Learn more about joining our next cohort beginning on 11/12: https://lnkd.in/ec49weCb

It’s not every day that you meet someone who shares the same heartbeat for community impact. Earlier this summer, I had the pleasure of connecting with Wendi Park, co-founder of CareImpact, a platform she and her husband built to strengthen community connections and empower churches to serve. Both of us have been working alongside our husbands, bootstrapping and building platforms from the ground up. My husband Dan and I founded GiveWise with a similar heart for using technology to grow generosity and help strangers become good neighbors. While our missions differ, we share a common thread of wanting to create lasting change in our communities. I even had the privilege of meeting Wendi in person! She was out from Winnipeg, so I took the prairie girl hiking behind my house to this viewpoint (see pic 📷). From navigating the complexities of working with developers to casting a vision for a nation-wide impact, it’s encouraging to see another trailblazer with a parallel path. We’re both focused on finding practical solutions to make giving easier, more intentional, and transformational. I often share publicly that collaboration is my favorite part of the job. When you meet someone who truly gets it—who’s been in the trenches, faced the same struggles, and remained committed to the vision—it renews your energy. There’s a unique synergy that comes from aligning both values and approach, and I’m looking forward to finding ways to collaborate and amplify each other’s work. #Leadership #CommunityImpact #Collaboration

That’s why, through our work with the Marion County Reentry Coalition, we’ve made it easier for you to get involved and enact meaningful change in the reentry space. Innovate or Die: Community Outreach as a Key to Growth In Bob Iger’s The Ride of a Lifetime, his chapter “Innovate or Die” resonates deeply with me as I lead our community outreach initiatives at Lynchburg Comprehensive Treatment Center Acadia Healthcare. Just as Iger highlights the necessity for innovation to stay relevant, we’ve embraced the idea that building and nurturing community partnerships is essential to growing and sustainable impact in today’s world. Our outreach efforts are more than just an extension of our services—they are the heartbeat of our mission. Whether it’s collaborating with local organizations, participating in panels like the VAMARP conference, or supporting events like National Recovery Month, each connection helps us innovate the way we serve our community and address its unique needs. As Iger puts it, “the path to innovation begins with curiosity.” By staying curious and open to new ideas, we’re continuously evolving to make meaningful changes. I’m excited for what’s to come as we push forward in these initiatives and foster even deeper relationships that create lasting impact. #Leadership #CommunityOutreach #Innovation #Growth #TheRideOfALifetime #OutreachMatters #InnovateOrDie

“It's with drops of water that we fill bottles.” Deirdre Forte, HR Manager at Kersia in Ireland, is certain that being a catalyst for change isn't a competition; it's a mindset. It involves small actions – like a smile or a kind word – that can make a big difference. Inspired by her experiences during the COVID pandemic, Deirdre recognized the importance of #empathy and #connection in both personal and professional settings. By creating a more inclusive workplace, Deirdre helps others feel valued and encourages them to take risks without fearing failure. The results speak for themselves: Deirdre's intrapreneurial initiative has led to stronger ties with local schools, mentorship opportunities for students in her company, and a renewed sense of belonging among staff. By investing in the next generation, Deirdre’s commitment to fostering a culture of kindness and inclusivity is a reminder that we can all be #changemakers in our communities, and our workplaces. 🌍 My Journey with Ashoka to become a Change Maker: Driving Social Impact 🌍 I am honoured and proud to be part of the Kersia Changemaker network, a global community of individuals committed to creating positive change. We began our journey with the Changemaker programme through Ashoka. This journey has been both inspiring and humbling, teaching me the power of empathy, collaboration, and innovation in driving real-world solutions to some of our most pressing challenges. From supporting education in the community to wellbeing in the workplace, I’ve witnessed firsthand how meaningful change can start with a small spark and grow into a movement when fueled by purpose and collective action. Being part of this programme has strengthened my belief that everyone can be a change maker, no matter how big or small their contributions. Together, we can shape a more just, equitable, and sustainable future. 🔗 Let’s connect, collaborate, and keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. #Ashoka #Changemaker #SocialImpact #Leadership #Innovation #Purpose
