With the current focus on rollups in Ethereum, we will see thousands of them in the future, including both general-purpose and app-specific rollups. These rollups rely on Ethereum for security by settling their blocks on it and in future these rollups would start using Data Availability solutions like Avail DA or a Data Availability Committee on Ethereum. Increasing the number without fundamentally improving how these systems work together will complicate things further. These upgrades continue to show us what we can expect in Pectra, as well as other EIP developments.
