The PIK - Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research has launched a tool combining #Earth science and #observationdata to quantify the planet’s #health and inform solutions to reverse the impact of #humanactivity. Launched during #ClimateWeekNYC2024, the #PlanetaryHealthCheck emphasises the need for more advanced Earth observation methods and involvement, in a context where six of the nine #planetaryboundaries as defined by the Stockholm Resilience Centre have already been breached, with a seventh imminent. 🌍 2nd of August 2024 marks Earth Overshoot Day 🌍, a calculated date illustrating when humanity uses more resources than the planet Earth can regenerate in a year. 📚 Extensive research and numerous experts warn about over-consumption, luxurious lifestyles in WEIRD societies (Western, educated, industrialized, rich, and democratic) and the set-up of international trade and economy linked to resource extraction, environmental destruction, child labour and global inequalities. 💭 If I may, I'd like to invite you to rethink how our international political and economic systems operate. Take a moment to deconstruct how your daily activities may be linked to dangerous patterns on a global scale and consider what we all can do differently and better. It holds the collective essence of communities and shapes who we become. Through my Multiversal Futures Framework, I explored this parallel reality to uncover valuable lessons for our world today. In my latest article, I dive into three unreachable futures in this parallel world: 1. The Emotionless Epoch – A generation born from trauma-tainted soil, stripped of emotion, and society fractures as empathy fades. 2. The Sentient Soil’s Choice – The earth gains consciousness, choosing who is born based on its own logic, redefining power and purpose. 3.
