🌙 Ramadan Kareem!🌙 As an international executive based in Dubai, I find joy in welcoming the holy month of Ramadan. 🕌 Ramadan, beyond its spiritual significance, is a unique opportunity for us to foster inclusion and engage in straight talk within our workplaces. 1. Understanding and Empathy: Ramadan is a time of fasting, reflection, and increased devotion. As leaders, let's initiate conversations with our team members who observe Ramadan. Ask them how they'd like to be supported during this month. It's never too late to start this dialogue, even if Ramadan has already begun. 🗣️ 2. Mindful Communication: Straight talk means being candid yet respectful. During Ramadan, be mindful of your communication and encourage open dialogue about any challenges faced. 🗨️ 3. Highlighting Diversity: My own journey as a pharma executive has been enriched by diverse experiences and backgrounds. Let's celebrate our differences and recognize that inclusion isn't just a buzzword—it's a powerful force that drives innovation and understanding. 🌍 Ramadan is more than abstaining from food and drink—it's about compassion, gratitude, and unity. It’s a great opportunity to embrace these values and create an inclusive workplace where everyone feels seen, heard, and valued. 🤝 #Ramadan #Inclusion #StraightTalk #DiversityMatters

Careers in Sea Transport have become more dynamic than ever, fuelling Singapore's economic growth with exciting new opportunities and upskilling initiatives. As the maritime sector undergoes transformation accelerated by digitalisation and decarbonisation, attracting talent and equipping the workforce with future-ready skills has become a top priority. This focus on talent development forms the core of the third pillar of the Sea Transport Industry Transformation Map (ITM) and centered on #Jobs & #Skills, which aims to build a highly skilled and adaptable workforce to meet future industry needs. Initiatives such as the #MPA-Global Internship Award (GIA) and the Maritime Leadership Programme (MLP) have been introduced to provide students and leaders with valuable experience and training. The GIA has not only attracted students to the maritime sector but also provided more than 300 students with international experiential learning opportunities at companies in Singapore and around the world, shaping a highly skilled maritime workforce with global experience. At the leadership level, the MLP has trained over 60 industry leaders in the past 3 years, broadening their global outlook and expanding business networks to strengthen their leadership. Additionally, the Sail Milestone Achievement Programme (SailMAP) encourages seafarers to achieve top competency levels. These programmes are designed not only to equip individuals with future-ready skills but also to create new #career pathways for both aspiring and current professionals. Looking to the future, the Maritime Energy Training Facility (METF) and industry-led corporate learning and development centres will continue to enhance Singapore’s leadership in maritime #talent development. These institutions will play a pivotal role in preparing Singapore’s maritime workforce for evolving industry needs, particularly in areas such as maritime #digitalisation, #decarbonisation, and #cybersecurity. Through strong tripartite efforts by MPA, industry partners, and unions, Singapore is positioning itself as a global hub for global hub for maritime talent, ensuring that our workforce continues to thrive in an increasingly digital and automated future. #MaritimeSG
