Governmental decisions are key to accommodate a smoother transition with interventions needed in supporting storage deployment, grid upgrades, and a resilient local supply chain. Europe can become the first climate-neutral continent –according to a study led by the PIK - Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. The study shows that Europe already has all the necessary technologies to achieve power sovereignty and electricity generation free of fossil fuel resources by 2030. Therefore, Europe needs an enabling legislative framework as the growth of renewable energy has been too low to meet targets, the study states.
