The Praxis team had a great time attending the District Administration Leadership Institute's Superintendents Summit last week! We enjoyed hearing inspiring presentations from trailblazing superintendents Dr. Joe Sanfelippo and Dr. Quintin Shepherd, who are driving impactful change in their districts. It was also fantastic to connect with superintendents from across the country who are working to improve student outcomes and launch new initiatives to adapt to the ever-changing world of education. We’re looking forward to continuing these conversations in the new year and exploring innovative partnerships to address the teacher shortage.

This week, the Aldine Young Womens Leadership Academy (YWLA) hosted over 15 Texas superintendents in collaboration with Texas Strategic Leadership. Principal Jericah Jackson shared how her team employs High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) and Research-Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS) to drive student success at YWLA. Following Dr. Jackson's presentation, YWLA Student Ambassadors led campus tours and classroom visits, allowing guests to observe YWLA’s instructional strategies and student engagement in action. These tours showcased how a focus on academic excellence, leadership development, and college readiness comes to life daily on our campus. YWLA demonstrates how dedicated educators and students can work together to ensure a transformative academic experience that equips young women for future success in college and beyond. YWLA is proud to serve as a shining example of the great things happening in Aldine ISD and at Young Women's Preparatory Network schools.

“Soliciting support can certainly be unsavory and even craven if done in a way that does not celebrate the mission of the institution, the benefit to the students, and the remarkable outcomes of the alumni. However, when done the right way, in an open and honest manner, it affirms everything for which the college or university stands. Advancement can truly be a vehicle for moving the mission of the institution forward…No matter how campaigns are conceived, sized,, implemented, leadership is critical to success. Increasingly, that leadership comes from the president and casts him or her in the role of ‘Fund-raiser-in-Chief.’..No other institutional officer can create the vision, establish university-wide priorities, or make the case for support as effectively as the president.”

As the novelist Iris Murdoch once suggested, happiness doesn't come simply from freedom or education itself. Instead, education expands our minds and reveals the possibilities around us, helping us recognize happiness. With this in mind, I am proud to have renewed my Certified Association Executive (CAE) certification, reaffirming my commitment to continued growth and service in nonprofit and association management. Here's to embracing new possibilities and making an impact as we step into October! ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership
