The Eu's arctic strategy will need revision, and the dance between EU, Greenland and Denmark is key to the evolution of EU policy on the polar regions. This is not about geopolitics, but raises important questions about our understanding of the stakes of the actors involved around the status of the Arctic Ocean, the delimitation of the North Pole and the conditions under which a High North, Low tension scenario could become a reality. I submit this depends too a large degree on The Danish Realm and the quality of the partnership between Denmark and its north atlantic territories , and on the treaty-making powers of the European Union. The entanglements are considerable and it will take years to sort out things, but this piece provides guidance how to proceed and explain why it is everyones interest to move forward in a determined manner.
