🌍 Advancing Sustainable Tourism in Rural Communities through the project “Eco-Tourism Innovations for Rural Development”! 🌿 We're thrilled to share the significant progress of the project, which has fostered eco-friendly tourism and rural development across various rural areas: 🏞️ Italy: Embracing Sustainability in Conegliano and Valdobbiadene The initiative has not only enhanced local operators’ knowledge but also fostered a community dedicated to sustainable tourism. 🏝️ Cyprus: Cultivating Eco-Friendly Tourism in Rural Larnaca By highlighting local traditions, such as Cyprus coffee and honey production, the project demonstrated how cultural heritage can be integrated into a sustainable tourism model. 🇩🇰 Denmark: Green Tourism Practices in Køge The feedback collected during these sessions was instrumental in refining the handbook, ensuring it met the specific needs of the Danish rural tourism sector. 🇷🇴 Romania: Sustainable Tourism in Bucovina de Munte The project also emphasized the role of the “Local Action Group Bucovina de Munte” in promoting cohesive and sustainable rural development. The Potential of Ecological and Active Recreation in Spain in the next decade. part 1 Spain, a country with a rich and diverse natural heritage and a favorable climate, is becoming an attractive destination for ecological and active recreation enthusiasts. This type of tourism is gaining popularity among local residents and travelers worldwide, which is associated with a growing interest in a healthy lifestyle and care for nature. Ecological Tourism in Spain Ecotourism in Spain offers many opportunities: from visiting national parks to participating in biodiversity conservation programs. To date, the country has more than 15 national parks, among which the most famous are the Pyrenees, Garajonay Park in the Canary Islands, and Doñana in Andalusia. It's important to note that as of 2023, 27% of the country's territory is under protection, creating a solid foundation for the development of ecotourism. Arguments for the development of ecotourism: Environmental sustainability: contributes to the conservation of natural resources and biodiversity. Support for the local economy: creates jobs and attracts investments. Education and awareness: increases understanding of the importance of protecting flora and fauna. Active Recreation in Spain The diversity of Spain's landscapes, from the Pyrenees mountains to the Mediterranean coast, creates ideal conditions for active recreation all year round. The country has more than 60,000 km of marked hiking trails and about 3,000 km of bicycle paths. Mountain areas such as the Sierra Nevada, the Pyrenees, and the Cantabrian Mountains are popular for hiking and cycling. This natural potential attracts tourists from countries such as the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands, and Scandinavian countries. In recent years, there has also been a growing interest from tourists from the USA and Canada, as well as Asian countries, particularly China and Japan. 🌍 Celebrating Meaningful Partnerships for Global Impact 🌍 This week, UN Tourism, UN-Habitat, and UNESCO joined forces to organize an impactful event on Urban Tourism: Policies and governance for more sustainable, inclusive, creative, and resilient cities at the 12th World Urban Forum (WUF12). Montenegro Adventures is participating in The EuroCluster Rural Tourism Project - EU Rural Tourism - as one of the SMEs that is interested in improving digital skills and sustainability practices. The aim of our project in Montenegro is to select ten rural households to be prominently featured in some of our future products – day or multi-day tours or travel packages.  We have already conducted several activities, including a self-evaluation of our company, a national meeting with other grantees from Montenegro, training on how to achieve our sustainability goals – towards more sustainable Montenegro Adventures – conducted by Kirsi Hyvaerinen and compiled a comprehensive list of pre-selected rural households from Montenegro. We are very much looking forward to our next phase, in which we will select ten households we will work with, in the coming months, choosing or creating products that will become a part of our offer for this year and the years to come! Co-funded by the #COSME program of the European Union, EU Rural Tourism is born with the objective of complying with the trends of the European worldwide tourism demand, with a focus on rural tourism and similar services like eco-tourism, farm tourism and sustainable tourism.
