🚀 Creating impact! Together with other EU STEM Coalition partners we have attended the National Swedish #STEM Conference 2024 in Malmö! 🇸🇪 This brought together triple helix partners – government, industry, and education – to forge a united vision for the future. 🌟 Over the past years, Swedish stakeholders, supported by the EU STEM Coalition, Platform Talent voor Technologie and the Danish STEM Platform (Astra) have been working hard to create a joint strategy to strengthen #STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) as a foundation for innovation, competitiveness, and sustainable development. 🌍✨ 🔑 Some high-lights of todays event 👉 Mats Persson, Swedish Minister for Employment and Integration, sharing the national strategy to align STEM skills with labor market needs. 👉 Marie Nilsson (IF Metall) & Pia Sandvik (Teknikföretagen), highlighting the role of employers and unions in this transformation. 👉 Guro Rørvik (Norway) & Mikkel Bohm (Denmark), sharing valuable European lessons. 💡 Interactive seminars dive deep into key challenges and opportunities: ✅ Making STEM more inclusive: Dr Ulrika Sultan. (Örebro University) explores strategies to attract girls and underrepresented groups. ✅ Hybrid learning: Learn from Perstorp Technical Gymnasium about blending theory and practice. ✅ Upskilling & reskilling: Discover impactful projects like Mind The Gap, helping companies build strategic skills. 🤝 This conference was all about collaboration – breaking silos between industry, education, and policymakers. By sharing knowledge across Europe, we can innovate faster and make a bigger impact. 🌐💪 The EU STEM Coalition is especially looking forward to engage with our partners in the upcoming EU STEM Education plan. STEM Superstars matter. Their visibility inspires others. Modesty prevents many from being too visible, but those around them feel bolder when they are. If you know someone in STEM who you feel should be more visible as a role model and STEM Ambassador, and who’d inspire others, encourage them to apply. We need more heroes. #stem #womeninstem #diversity #equality #science #engineering #manufacturing #advancedmanufacturing

Empower 10 Female STEM Students Attend the SWE'24 Conference (Oct 24-26) happening in Chicago!! Hello beautiful people!!! We are a group of 10 female international students in STEM from University of Massachusetts Amherst (Umass Amherst), Northeastern University (NEU), and University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC), and we need your help to attend the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) Conference in Chicago. The Society of Women Engineers SWE '24 Conference is the world's largest gathering of women in engineering and technology, and it provides an incredible opportunity for us to network, learn, and grow as future engineers and innovators. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we are unable to secure financial aid from our universities, and the cost of travel, accommodation, and registration fees is beyond what we can afford on our own. We are reaching out to the community to help make this dream a reality. Why This Conference Matters to Us: As international students, we face unique challenges in STEM. Being far from home, we’ve worked hard to build a strong academic foundation while striving to overcome language barriers, cultural differences, and financial limitations. The SWE '24 Conference is a rare opportunity for us to: ->Network with professionals from top engineering companies and tech leaders. ->Attend career workshops, leadership training, and panels that will help us develop skills critical for success in male-dominated fields. ->Meet mentors and role models who will inspire us to push boundaries and continue advocating for diversity in STEM. This conference will not only benefit us as individuals but also allow us to bring back the knowledge and inspiration to our university communities and future generations of female engineers. Attending the SWE Conference is a stepping stone toward becoming leaders in our fields and contributing to a more diverse and inclusive future in STEM. What We Need We are looking to raise $10,000 to cover the following expenses for 3 days in Chicago: Travel costs from Massachusetts, North Carolina, and other locations (~$300 per student) Hotel Accommodation (~$200 per student) Conference registration fees (~$375 per student) Meals and local transportation ($100 per student) Here is how you can help us raise the funds: https://gofund.me/51e27cdb Any contribution, no matter the size, will help us get closer to our goal. Whether it’s $5, $50, or even just sharing our campaign with your network, it means the world to us. With your support, we can attend this life-changing event and take one step closer to achieving our dreams in STEM. Thank you for believing in us and for helping us shatter the glass ceiling!!! :) With a bunch of gratitude and a ton of well wishes!!! The STEM Women Students of UMass Amherst, NEU, and UNCC.

✨ We are excited to announce our collaboration with Vrije Universiteit Brussel and the City of Halle to create an innovative STEM hub set to open in 2025. ✨ 🚀 Located in a 4500m² space near Brussels, this new center will cater to the rising demand for STEM professionals and engage young minds in science and technology from an early age. 🧬 🔬 The repurposed building will be transformed into a state-of-the-art facility with laboratories and classrooms. This initiative, supported by VUB, B-PHOT, Stad Halle, local schools, and Colruyt Group Technics, will provide a rich array of activities aimed at fostering STEM development among youth. 🏫 🗣️ Hugo Thienpont, B-PHOT Director and VUB Vice-Rector for Innovation and Valorization, emphasizes the project's importance: "Unfortunately, we often see students not choosing a STEM education despite having the right profile. Flanders is one of the top regions in Europe in terms of innovation. If we want to maintain this position, we need to engage more young people in science. Given the shortage, there is a clear need for an extra push." 🔑 With over 6,000 secondary school students in Halle and the support of key stakeholders, this hub is poised to become a pivotal educational and innovation center, addressing the predicted 500,000 unfilled STEM positions in Belgium by 2030 (calculated by the Belgian federation of the technology industry Agoria). 🔮 We are excited about the positive impact this project will have on Flemish youth and the local community, inspiring the next generation of STEM leaders! 🧑🔬 #BPHOT #VUBrussel #STEM #STEAM #Innovation #Education #Halle #FutureSkills #Photonics #YouthEngagement #VUBpartnership #VUBstem https://lnkd.in/etSucbVm

Over the past 2 days I was participating in #EMINENT2024, European Schoolnet's annual conference that brought together policymakers, experts and leaders from across Europe to discuss STEM education. Here are ome key takeways of the event: · The urgent need to address the shortage of STEM professionals to meet the EU Digital Decade targets, including 20 million skilled ICT professionals by 2030. · The importance of inclusivity in STEM, especially breaking barriers for girls and women. Programs like #Scientix, STEM Alliance, Girls Go Circular and MolenGeek demonstrate the power of mentorship, diversity, and collaboration to create real change. · Collaboration is the key to progress. Stakeholders from policy, schools, industry, teacer training, the research community and NGO’s must work together to make #STEM education accessible, inclusive, fair and impactful. · STEM is not just about numbers, technology, or science. It is about people. It is about young minds inspired to solve problems. It is about teachers equipped with the tools and confidence to prepare their students for an ever-changing world. 🙏 Thank you to colleagues from European Schoolnet and Ministry of Education and Training and all the speakers and participants who made this event a success. #STEM #Education #DiversityInSTEM #DigitalSkills #Collaboration #EMINENT2024 With Laura Lindberg and Zsofia Karavajev Matias Van Daele Agueda Gras-Velazquez Deirdre Hodson Konstantinos Andronikidis Marc Durando Jana Laga Jana Op de Beeck Willem Schoors Hamid Riffi Thomas Deckers KlasCement
