This just in! Formal negotiations have been launched on Japan’s association to #HorizonEurope. With this move, Japan joins the list of other like-minded non-EU countries with a strong science, innovation and technology profile – such as Canada, New Zealand or South Korea. This collaboration, in addition to the EU-Japan deal on data flows (July 2024) could be a game changer in ensuring competitiveness, in these times of volatile policy changes potentially shaking up the status quo, across the industry! https://lnkd.in/e2D62K3W

This is interesting - no chinese entities in #horizoneurope European Commission Decision C(2024) 2371 /17 April 2024 , related to Horizon Europe Work Programme 2023-2025, 13. General Annexes (page 6) “Legal entities established in China are therefore not eligible to participate in Horizon Europe Innovation Actions in any capacity. This includes participation as beneficiaries, affiliated entities, associated partners, third parties giving in-kind contributions, subcontractors or recipients of financial support to third parties (if any). Exceptions may be granted on a caseby-case basis for justified reasons. The above eligibility criteria may be reviewed in the future in accordance with policy developments. This exclusion is justified under Article 22(6) of the Horizon Europe Regulation given the substantive concerns regarding the use of intellectual property generated under this publicly funded programme, and the ongoing discussions between China and the EU on the Joint Roadmap for the future of EU-China cooperation in science, technology, and innovation.” - and shows further the lack of confidence and trust to #chinese endeavours

🤝 The Ukrainian Cluster Movement is growing stronger together with Ukrainian business 🇺🇦 🇪🇺 🚀 As part of the project "Internationalization of Ukrainian Clusters: How to Thrive in the EU Cluster Ecosystem" under the EU4Business: SME Recovery, Competitiveness and Internationalisation programme, we are pleased to announce the readiness of 15 Ukrainian clusters for the @European Cluster Conference 2024 by European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP), which will take place in Brussels on 6-8 May. For the third time, Quality Centre LLC has been selected as a partner in the preparation and organisation of the trip for the best representatives of Ukrainian clusters to international cluster conferences (EU Cluster Conference 2022 and Clusters Meet Regions in Kosice 2023). The outbreak of russian aggression has given rise to active unity and cooperation of Ukrainian enterprises from many industries. "The biggest wave of clustering and internationalisation of business, which has been many times discussed before, came in March 2022. Our choice was to unite the leading companies in their industries. This is evidenced by the Ukrainian Automotive and Mobility Cluster, whose members employ more than 15,000 people," says Olga Trofymova, co-founder of the Ukrainian Cluster Alliance (UCA), cluster manager of the Ukrainian Automotive and Mobility Cluster, and director of the Quality Centre. The selected participants are totally ready: they took part in two webinars (on developing their own profile on the conference platform and on conducting negotiations), attended individual meetings on the development of profiles and presentations. More than 15 potential partners are found for each of the participants in the identified partnership and projects. "Ukrainian clusters have a lot to share with the international community. And it's not just about demonstrating the incredible resilience that the whole world is talking about. It's about innovation, our potential for growth and scaling, which would not have happened without openness, trust and cooperation with international partners," commented Anna Haiduchok, Head of Component EU4Business Programe at GIZ Ukraine. So, we can confidently say that we have every reason to expect powerful results from the participation of Ukrainian cluster delegation at this event. In the near future, we will show the most influential clusters and their brightest representatives. After all, behind every successful step Ukraine makes on its way to internationalisation is a specific person or business that sets worthy examples for colleagues to follow. #eu4business, #StandForUkraine, #gizSME

The conference, organized by Nikkei Group since 1995, is the most prestigious annual event of its kind in Asia. Over the years, the FOA has witnessed the region’s ups and downs, from financial crises to global pandemics, and has served as an important platform for dialogue and cooperation. The conference program includes roundtable discussions and keynote addresses on a range of topics, including international cooperation in higher education, sustainable economic partnerships, and the pursuit of zero emissions. Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai’s participation underscores Vietnam’s commitment to regional and global engagement, as well as its support for initiatives that foster dialogue and cooperation to address shared challenges. Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan, Pham Quang Hieu, emphasized that Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai’s presence at the conference highlights Vietnam’s image as a reliable partner and an active, responsible member of ASEAN and the international community. The timing of the working trip coincides with a period of growing Vietnam-Japan ties, especially after the celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations and the upgrade of their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. 🌍🤝 Poland and Sweden Strengthen Strategic Bilateral Business Cooperation As part of the Strategic Partnership Agreement between Poland and Sweden, signed today (28/11) by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, both nations reaffirm their commitment to fostering deeper economic ties and driving innovation across key sectors. While this comprehensive agreement spans numerous strategic areas, I would like to highlight the section on bilateral trade, investments, and economic collaboration, which resonates strongly with my professional focus. Key initiatives include: ➡️ High-level business summits: The first summit will take place in Sweden in late 2025, followed by another in Poland in 2026. Both will focus on innovation, clean energy, and digitalisation, aiming to enhance competitiveness and foster collaboration between businesses. ➡️ Expanding trade and investments: Initiatives to boost bilateral trade volumes, promote knowledge transfer, and strengthen vital sectors like tourism and mobility. ➡️ Developing smart, green, and digital industries: Supporting cluster collaborations, innovation partnerships, and dialogues on venture capital and foreign direct investments. ➡️ Strategic industrial cooperation: Exploring partnerships in defence sectors (air, land, maritime, and space) and promoting collaboration between small and medium enterprises (SMEs). ➡️ Innovation-driven collaborations: Establishing research and development consortiums and leveraging world-class facilities like ESS, MAX IV, and Solaris to drive technological breakthroughs. ➡️ Healthcare cooperation: Advancing research and innovation in biopharmaceuticals and medical technologies, while exchanging best practices in healthcare system organisation. ➡️ Technology-focused collaboration: Accelerating joint efforts in 6G, cybersecurity, and AI, and fostering trusted connectivity across Europe and beyond. This marks a pivotal moment for Polish-Swedish cooperation and serves as a strong foundation for advancing bilateral business relations. #EU and #Switzerland launch ‘bilateral relations’ talks to deepen Horizon Europe participation. The EU and Switzerland have announced they have launched negotiations to strengthen bilateral relations in a move that will boost Switzerland’s participation in Horizon Europe. Previously, Swiss involvement in Horizon Europe, the world’s largest research programme, has been limited due to the country’s ‘third country’ status. Now, the EU and Switzerland are working to strengthen ties that will provide various benefits to both parties. Launched by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and President of the Swiss Confederation Viola Patricia Amherd, the talks follow the adoption of EU and Switzerland negotiating mandates on 8 and 12 March. https://lnkd.in/eWWQNjpJ #horizoneurope #switzerland #europe #eu #science #research #innovation #internationalcollaboration
