The EU is a major industrial force and European products are renowned worldwide for their quality and tradition - But what drives this success ❓ The secret lies in a few quality ingredients: 🎓 Investment in education 🚧 Strong public infrastructure 🌐 An outward focus And…the EU’s best asset, a dynamic single market 📈 A vital part of this single market is the EU State aid policy 🏛 EU State aid rules keep the single market together and protect your tax money. They ensure public funds go where the market falls short, promote balanced growth across the EU, and prevent wasteful spending and subsidy races. State aid rules are essential to safeguard well-functioning markets across Europe, while also granting governments clear rules within which they can conduct policy, and legal certainty for companies. It is not primarily a simple matter of yes or no to state aid, it's a matter of how much and in what way. For all those interested in the business view on these matters, attached is BusinessEuropes collective priorities for the future of EU state aid framework, which I have contributed to on behalf of the Confederation of Swedish Enterprise. It goes into important topics such as 🔑 How the State aid rules can fulfill their role ensuring a level playing field whilst contributing to the success of the twin transition 🔑 Suggestions to streamline the EU State aid framework at EU level 🔑 Suggestions to streamline the EU State aid framework at national level #stateaid #subsidies #competition #markets

#MEPs have their work cut out for them for the penultimate #EuropeanParliament Plenary Session of the 9th legislature, starting today! In just one and a half short days they will have to decide on many, many files, including the #migration and asylum agreement, whether to grant discharge for EU institutions' spending of the #EUbudget, some hefty industry and environmental files and much, much more ... If that sounds like too much to take in - here's a quick summary, with links to single-page analysis on each file for when you need more info. ⚡ https://wp.me/p2qdgs-gM1

I try to avoid being political on here, but needs must in the face of an impending election and the current state of the UK. If you're like me and totally disillusioned with our broken two party political system, and you have absolutely zero faith in the Conservatives or Labour, why not give these guys a protest vote. https://lnkd.in/dZ-2t-4H Rejoining the EU would be a long road with lots of hard work and potentially compromise (maybe even adopting the Euro 🤷♂️ ), but would deliver vastly more benefit to the UK economy and our standing on the global stage than any lip service policy the main parties promise and then fail to deliver. These guys are also advocating for greater proportional representation and term membership of the House of Lords, policies I also strongly agree with. And let's be clear, they aren't going to win the election. They won't even get close. But if they get enough votes, it will send a clear message to the powers that be that rejoining the union should be back on the negotiating table. Politics is failing the UK. From the crumbling infrastructure and the failed project of privatised rail and transport, to the ailing NHS and lack of affordable housing. And no, it isn't because of immigration as the Milkshake Man likes to keep telling us. Immigration is almost as high as it's ever been, by the way. If you think it will be any better with Labour, just look at how well Wales is doing; devolution is also failing. It's time to change the status quo. If you're unsure about what to do in the election, consider voting for The Rejoin EU party. #rejoineu #politics #ukgeneralelection #timeforchange

€15 billion in cohesion funds misused 💸 The European Court of Auditors' report underscores concerns about the EU's cohesion policy's future and efficiency. An independent study found that despite promoting regional economic growth, cohesion funds primarily benefit high-skilled, wealthier households, exacerbating intra-regional inequality. The study calls for reforms to ensure fairer distribution of EU support, advocating for policies that directly assist vulnerable populations rather than focusing solely on geographic areas. 🖋️ Report by Henrique Tizzot

The recent financial analysis of IPA funds utilization has revealed alarming results. It's time to transition from mere declarations of commitment to EU integration to concrete actions. The efficiency and effectiveness of our use of European funds are not just administrative concerns; they are vital for our national development and our journey toward EU membership. We must confront these challenges directly and fulfill our obligations to our citizens. Let’s turn our declarative commitments to the EU into meaningful actions. 🇪🇺 #EU #IPAFunds #Reforms #StrongerTogether

Welcome news to see a clear timeline of June 2025 for UK OTs to implement "accessible" BO registers. Accessible here is meaning a range of options - from legitimate interest with potentially very restrictive access requirements, through to publicly accessible. But, this is a step forward and come June 2025 it will be possible for actors to test whether legit interest provisions as defined in OTs laws operate effectively in practice.
