Ann Cavoukian, Ph.D.’s privacy-by-design principles are more important than ever. It's not just about data protection; it's about embedding privacy into your DNA. Here are the key principles to implement: Proactive, Not Reactive: ↳ Prevent privacy issues before they occur. Build solutions with privacy in mind from the start. Privacy as the Default Setting: ↳ Users shouldn't have to take action to protect their privacy. It should be the default. Privacy Embedded into Design: ↳ Integrate privacy into the design of your systems and processes, not as an afterthought. Full Functionality: ↳ Achieve both privacy and functionality. Don't trade one for the other. End-to-End Security: ↳ Ensure complete protection of data throughout its lifecycle. Visibility and Transparency: ↳ Make your privacy practices transparent. Users should know how their data is handled. Respect for User Privacy: ↳ Keep user privacy paramount. Give them control over their data. 👉 Why This Matters: Incorporating these principles into your organization ensures robust privacy practices, builds trust, and aligns with global privacy standards. Ready to implement your privacy-by-design process? Let's connect & make privacy a core part of your strategy. #PrivacyByDesign #DataProtection #Agrada

Privacy & Security are like PB&J. Together they make an amazing pair. Kudos to Justin Daniels for sharing with me his favorite analogy! While privacy & security's focus differs. Both are needed for effective data management. Some companies don't have a need for a full time privacy person. So enter our Fractional Privacy Officer (FPO) program. Think of it as the other side with the idea of a Virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO). To read all the fine details check out the article below! What does a Fractional Privacy Officers (FPO) do? - Create privacy programs - Stay on top of new & existing privacy laws to manage compliance - Enable cookie consent banners & perform digital tracking audits - Review new marketing and product initiatives - Automate privacy rights requests from intake to fulfillment - Create and update privacy notices - Implement privacy tech - Perform privacy training - And more! Privacy & Security together help companies: - Set privacy and security standards - Avoid compliance fines - Build trust with your customers We love partnering all year long with our FPO clients! Crunchy peanut butter, locally-sourced jelly, freshly toasted English muffin. That's my PB&J jam. 💥 If you know me at all, here or in rLife, you know that #privacy and #informationsecurity are also a delicious part of my favorite pseudo-nutritious meal. As I say during many of my talks, Privacy and Security are no longer a Venn diagram; they're more like a blurry circle. Since I started my first #IT job more than 20 years ago, I've felt like that cohort needed to understand the #business world and why IT/IS needs to be an enabler of business, not a hindrance. Today, the Privacy world faces a similar conundrum and I find myself on the more curmudgeonly side - no, you may not have my #data, thanks - but the pragmatist in me recognizes that, well, we have to get along to move along. Hat tip to Jodi Daniels and Justin Daniels for their continued #leadership in this space.

You know what? I’ve noticed something lately—people care more about privacy than ever before. And who can blame them? With all the data breaches and sketchy business practices, it’s no surprise that customers are starting to take privacy seriously. So, how do I make sure my business stays transparent with privacy terms? Here are a few things I’ve found helpful: 🔷 Keep it simple – I always aim to write privacy policies in a way that anyone can understand. No jargon, no hidden meanings. 🔷 Stay up to date – As my business evolves, I make sure our privacy policies evolve, too. Regular updates and clear communication are key. 🔷 Be honest about data use– I’m upfront with my customers about how we use their data and why it matters. No secrets. 🔷 Give people control – Everyone deserves to decide how their data is used. That’s why I make it easy for customers to opt-in, opt-out, and manage their preferences. How does your business handle privacy? Read the full article, and click on the link in the comment section. #PrivacyFirst #TransparencyMatters #CustomerTrust
