As part of our FACHHOCHSCHULE KÄRNTEN commitment to fostering internationalization, global education, and cultural exchange, School of Management hosted two virtual internships through the Alumni Internship Program, welcoming alumni from the FLEX and YES programs of American Councils for International Education. This initiative aligns with CUAS's dedication to sharing educational opportunities in Austria with young people around the world and enhancing cross-cultural experiences. #partnershipsforgoals #SDGs Thank you, Puhiza Shemsedini and Vladyslava Kobets for your great work, dedication, and connection to our students, alumni, and staff! Thank you for being our international youth reference points and helping us learn more about best approaches to international recruitment! #virtualinternship #internationalrecruitment #studentvoice Learnings from our International Interns: "Through working and communicating in a multicultural team, recruiting students from Kosovo, and collaborating with an institution in Austria, this internship with CUAS reaffirmed the profound power and beauty of multicultural teamwork. I experienced tremendous growth in various areas; I developed practical skills in marketing and recruitment, enhanced my communication and teamwork abilities, and built a cross-border network with incredible people." Puhiza "This 3-month internship not only boosted my professional growth but also provided real experience working on an international team in the global market of students. Creating an effective recruitment strategy for a large institution like a university is not an easy process; it requires a lot of time and effort. However, we had the opportunity to be creative and implement various techniques we could think of. This experience pushed us out of our comfort zones, led us to deeply analyze CUAS and encouraged us to come up with new ideas." Vladyslava Results are in the article below. Grateful to Karīna Vintere for internship facilitation form ACCELS side! #international #partnerships #virtualinternship #fhk #SDGs #education #recruitment #inspiringminds #schoolofmanagement Coordinators: Dr. Bernhard Guetz and myself :)

I am happy to share that I have completed my internship at Siemenpuu Foundation. There is so much I want to tell you about my internship. I have never learned as much as during the past 12 weeks. During my internship, I have had an incredible opportunity to learn a wide variety of new information and skills within development cooperation. From case study reviews to writing opinion pieces, attending seminars to translating texts, writing program summaries to project research, and so much more. As an intern, I have been in a great position to continuously keep learning while working. I have learned about the field of development cooperation, the Finnish SCOs, and the specific work of the Siemenpuu Foundation. I have learned about the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and how it relates to Finnish SCOs not only in funding but also within frameworks, implementation, and current political guidelines and rules. I have learned about the history of development cooperation and civil society work in Finland, about the United Nations’s Agenda 2030, the 30x30 target, decolonization, and forced relocation. I have completed courses in Project Cycle Management, Basis of Global Education, and Transformer 2030. I have learned about partner countries such as Kenya and Liberia and heard directly from the locals about their incredible motivation to work for their communities. I now recognize counties and Indigenous groups in Kenya and know the traditional practices of the Yiaku and Tharaka people, as well as the importance of crop rotation and honey gathering. I now further comprehend the exploitation done by companies and the struggles to hold them legally accountable. I now see how the local communities and organizations tirelessly work to advance their rights for their environment and livelihood. The internship at Siemenpuu has taught me a lot, both career-wise and personally. The tasks have heavily focused on intercultural aspects, which has prepared my competencies in cross-cultural communication. The higher knowledge I now have in areas of sustainability, community rights, and how the Global North affects the Global South in numerous ways has paved the way for my growth as a global citizen. I have realized new avenues of work and possibilities in the development cooperation field and found a personal new interest in them. I am now more knowledgeable about sustainable ways to live day-to-day life and how different actions in the Global North affect the Global South in negative ways. I now have more experience in office life and further experience in a highly responsibility-bearing job. I now have a wider understanding of the CSO environment, and for my next job in the field, I now feel more prepared on the whole. I am truly grateful for the experience, and I want to thank my amazing boss, Hanna, as well as my kind colleagues Kirsi, Timo, Kari, Tatu, and Mika. Maybe our paths will cross again someday in the field of ever-so-necessary work toward sustainability.

When I joined #CNRS in France for my PhD, it was my first time in Europe. I had colleagues from China and France, and my friends in the lab from countries like Mexico, Netherlands, Gabon, Thailand, Japan, Germany, and the Middle East. The best part of my PhD, beyond the academic and research work, was the cultural diversity I could explore. We often discuss a lot over coffee inside and outside our lab. We tried many amazing things together like, - Hiking in the Vosges mountain range on the German-French border. - Exploring the French countryside by walking. - Exploring fairytale towns in France, Switzerland, Luxembourg, and Germany. - Trying and cooking dishes from different countries and cultures. - Participating and attending the cultural events of the Lorraine region in France. Why am I discussing these here? I want to motivate students to seek out international internships and opportunities to study abroad. When I was an undergraduate student, there wasn't much awareness about such opportunities. I promise such an experience will profoundly impact your outlook on life and your career. It gives you a chance to see the world from different perspectives, build ever-lasting friendships, and create memories you'll cherish for a lifetime. #research #career #internship #student

Who wants to do an internship with me? I'm looking for a bright student, with strong analytical skills, who understands the stakes for different groups and levels of governance, who is interested in geopolitics and regions, and who knows how to write text that people want to read. -No need to be a political science or a European studies expert -Often interns had a Masters degree, but I have sometimes had brilliant people here who had a Bachelor. -It's necessary to be willing to absorb a lot of new information and read a lot -You'll have to unlearn probably as much as to learn Also: I'm not looking for super innovative fancy CV or cover letters: simple, clear, to the point, well-written. Cover letters are a formal exercise, they say also something about how you're able to navigate a formal world. What you can expect: -A tailor-made internship that helps you test and build your skills while matching my needs -A clear learning process: we assess your learning expectations at the beginning, do a mid-term assessment to see if we need to re-arrange tasks and evaluate the shared experience at the end -Mentoring: I'll do my best to help you connect with the people you need, the concepts and projects you didn't know of, help you build muscle in the fields your most interested in, stretch your understanding of topics, structures and help you in creating your next opportunities -Calm environment: a super small office and team here in Strasbourg, no institutional beehive -Working with the rest of the team based in Brussels The AER office in Strasbourg is located on the 6th floor and the lift only goes to the 5th, so it's not an accessible office. There will be works over the Summer, so maybe this will change, but I don't have this information. #internship #policylearning
