ITB, in WASABI, is the leading partner for the development of learning concepts and media for human-AI collaboration, capitalizing on its scientific work and accumulated experience. The Wasabi EU Project is officially launching its 📞 1st OPEN CALL for SMEs 💶 giving FINANCIAL SUPPORT to 10 SMEs of the manufacturing sector 🧠 involving them in AI-based digital assistance experiments 🌐 providing DIHs and DIH networks support 💰 for the implementation of advanced functionalities in digital assistance solutions, such as: #1️⃣ Human machine interface for complex processes #2️⃣ Agile onboarding of new employees in complex manufacturing systems #3️⃣ Conversation AI facilitating data access in different thematic areas #4️⃣ Conversation guided maintenance operations. This represents a 🎇 huge opportunity for SMEs and small mid-caps to participate in the process of Digital Transformation of Industry 5.0. Incredible result for Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences and the Ulysseus European University as 2 of our recently submitted and coordinated Erasmus+ Satellite Projects were accepted in Finland. Competition was high for this round with 45 applications submitted by Finnish Higher Education Institutions, however Haaga-Helia UAS has been awarded 2 out of 6 projects under this round! "The application acceptance rate was low at only 13%. At the same time, the lowest score required to receive funding was high at 90 points, indicating that the quality of applications and especially the projects that were granted funding was high overall" Well done to Ari Alamäki, Umair Ali Khan and Sari Korhonen for their excellent project MetaCog which will strengthen AI literacy to tackle disinformation and fake news by fostering civic engagement and shared values in European societies. In addition, Alfa Labs was also funded, which I wrote with invaluable AI insights from Umair Ali Khan and which will advance the digital capabilities of higher education in the use of AI and Increase digital transformation of HEIs through development of digital readiness, resilience and capacity. These projects form part of the Ulysseus Satellite Project portfolio, where members of the Ulysseus Alliance join to develop projects to answer common research and innovation challenges that face the EU. The University of Vaasa’s team won the EUNICE Imagine Innovation Cup 2024! 🏆✨   Our Doctoral Researchers, Eldrige de Melo, Mikko Punnala, and Mahmoud Elsanhoury, wowed the judges with their innovative project, enhancing navigation accuracy.   – Our aim is to develop a system that provides seamless navigation anytime and anywhere. We want to increase the resilience of the GNSS signals as they are critical to our daily lives, from ordering taxis and food delivery to using mobile maps and finance systems. GNSS signal jamming and spoofing has been increasing in the last few years. Our innovation is based on a research conducted at the University of Vaasa by Mahmoud Elsanhoury, says Eldrige de Melo.   – It was a great honour to be able to represent the university in this competition with our team. Winning the competition served as additional motivation that we have a good business idea that should be developed further and brought into the market.   The EUNICE Imagine Innovation Cup is a business competition where students from EUNICE European University partners present their entrepreneurial ideas. The projects were judged on the basis of their sustainability, feasibility, and novelty of the idea. The #EIT #KICs have a unique role in the range of Horizon Europe instruments: 👌 By creating a strong cycle between research, education and innovation 👌 By codeveloping really closely the long term research agenda with companies, RTOs, and universities and other stakehdolers (especially regions and macroregions) 👌 By adopting a portfolio and pro-active approach, with a lot of emphasis on acceleration, incubation, and skills in close contact with the companies in transnational ecosystems, which has a different impact from individual mobility projects e.g. ERASMUS I agree that we need an holistic review of all EU RDI instruments to create the smoothest path from idea to deployment and the strongest & most resilient transnational innovation ecosystems in Europe.. Indeed the best features of the EIT KICs could potentially be taken over by other instruments, and management could be streamlined to avoid duplications. However, it is worth checking first what they would be replaced with. The Danish paper suggests the EIC, but the gap to the EIC accelerator is way too big and the pipeline & ecosystem elements would be lost.. and the European Innovative Ecosystems programme in Pillar III is designed very narrowly in comparison with the EIT KICs...   There are dysfunctionalities and differences between every EIT KICs, and there is discontent about the funding model but, as the EU missions have shown, it is not easy to start large community endeavours from scratch.. The Journey of “VLEFactory”: Results and Celebration of Erasmus Days in Kuopio and Iisalmi (Finland) on October 10-13, 2023 The VLEFactory project participated in the Transnational Project Meeting (TPM) on October 10 and 11 in Kuopio and the Learning Teaching Training Activity (LTTA) on October 12 and 13 in Iisalmi, celebrating the Erasmus Day event. This TPM and LTTA event celebrated the diversity and success of projects within the Erasmus+ program, providing a platform for exchanging ideas, best practices, and experiences in European educational cooperation. The project teams from Ylä-Savon ammattiopisto, Savonia University of Applied Sciences, Carl-Benz-Schule Gaggenau, and Mercantec - Karrierecenter Midt showcased their achievements, attracting interest from education experts, institutional representatives, students activities, and EdTech professionals. The presentation highlighted the project's role in fostering international cooperation in education and creating innovative virtual learning environments by integrating advanced technologies and pedagogical approaches. Team members shared their contributions, emphasizing challenges and successes, and discussed the platform's adaptability to future educational needs.
