THIS WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS! 2024. I see Garran gave a run down of their 2024 on Linkedin and that has inspired me to give a run down of 2024 for the main riders and runners on the locker manufacturing front starting with my old stomping ground Garran. 😁 They open their pitch with: "Turns out that Garran Lockers unlocked some serious hits this year". That is so true. Garran are a top notch Locker supplier with a battle hardened and experienced grizzled crew in the design and factory areas, who time and time again produce wonderful installations. They had a purple patch mid year when they showcased those installations in powerful fashion - but then went off the boil to be more like Whittan, which I personally find boring, bland & banal. Lacks the pizazz to draw people's attention. "We had 8 new staff members join us". That is nothing to brag about as they are replacing ones who left and some joined and left soon after. So more than 8 in 2024. That is trying to spin a negative into a positive The problem with staff leaving is that it takes time to bed new staff into an organisation no matter how experienced they are. Staff retention at Garran is an issue. Losing jovial & joyful Jo and her 10 years faithful service was the height of short sightedness by the CeO. I wonder how many of the new staff are already planning their next career move? "We exhibited 4 shows this year". That is a plus point as being in the eye of prospective customers is vital for any manufacturing firm. You have to be in it to win it after all. However, I do not think Garran are setting the world alight right now. They are quieter than they would like to be, and their social media/MSM presence is not what it should be. A lack of imagination, panache & presence is denting their building and maintenance of brand awareness. They supported Great Ormond St Hospital which is an awesome thing to do and is to be thoroughly commended. What they have not done is utilise social media well to highlight that. They highlight their five best sellers but poorly. Thumbnails are not going to draw the eye or attention of would be customers or competitors. The same for the great installations they did. Helmsman are probably the best of them all at showcasing their installations. Garran would do well to emulate their style and regularity. My perspective of Garran for 2024 is this: You make a great product but you could be substantially better at showcasing it. I personally feel there is a lack of imagination, creativity and flow with your social media also a lack of human engagement. Merry Christmas. 🎅 https://lnkd.in/eFcJQ5iK
