One step closer to climate neutrality…
https://lnkd.in/g43BHvmy Without electrification of all processes within our suppliers' factories any long-term climate related goals within the textile industry will be unachievable. This technology that we now have financially supported removes thermal heat and adds electricity, a.k.a electrification. It also mitigates the intermittency from renewable electricity by acting as a battery. The good thing is that this is readily available from many different technology providers and will be a pivotal type of technology. So please stop telling me what is not possible and start doing what is possible instead. More will come soon, much more.

Decommissioning and removal of the offshore oil and gas platforms is one of the largest challenges on the Norwegian Continental Shelf in the coming decades, and will cost the Norwegian society hundreds of billions of Norwegian kroner (in UK estimated to be more than 40 B£, and half due in the next 10 years), mostly to be paid by our children and grand children. How to make most value of these offshore gigantic installations by giving them second life through repurposing and reuse in order to maximize value creation is an urgent topic to be addressed by the stakeholders. Research and innovation is needed to develop new solutions for the future sustainable utilization and end-of-the-life of these offshore installations. Welcome to the SFI REPO seminar to brain-storming solutions to reduce future decommissioning cost, minimize environmental impact at the same time reach circularity. Info and sign up below.

We are proud to announce that our project, "Innovative Fuel Cell/Battery-Based Hybrid Zero-Emission Power System for Maritime Transport," has received funding from Innovation Norway under the Bilateral Cooperation in the Green Transition Call 2024. This achievement highlights our commitment to advancing the green transition. In this project, consortium partners—including the National Research and Development Institute for Cryogenic and Isotopic Technologies (ICSI), the Institute for Energy Technology, Cadran Technologies, Segula Technologies - O&G Energy Division, and the University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, Pitești University Centre—aim to drive the transition toward zero-emission maritime transport. The goal is to develop an innovative, efficient, scalable, and cost-effective hybrid zero-emission power system at the proof-of-concept level, utilizing hydrogen fuel cells and battery energy storage system for maritime applications. The project also aims to facilitate knowledge and technology transfer, share experience and best practices, and raise awareness about the benefits of adopting green technologies. To support this, two workshops and two technical seminars will be organized. Our member VARD has set a clear direction to lead the green and technological transition in maritime operations ⛴️ Through their integrated value chain VARD is a one stop shop with in-house competence which gives them control over the whole process and makes it easier for them and their partners to obtain sustainable business at sea. Headquarted in Norway and with over 8 000 employees globally, VARD operates 7 shipyards and have several subisiairis and entities. Håvard Lien, vice president Research and Innovation in VARD, says: -The shift to a sustainable future at sea with zero emission ships is made possible by combining innovation and out of the box thinking with solid shipbuilding experience. Our offshore wind vessels are ready and prepared for renewable energy, making VARD contributing to reaching the optimal solution to minimize the environmental footprint of SOVs, which are used for crew transfers and logistics in relation to wind turbine maintenance. The SOVs account for a high proportion of emissions in wind farm operations, and our innovative Ocean Charger product enables these vessels to charge their batteries on-site. Today I joined the Panel discussion in European Parliament for Hydrogen in the Baltic Sea Region: ”The Baltic Sea Region at the forefront of innovation.” South West Finland like Baltic Sea Region has a great potential in the #hydrogen economy. South West Finland has over a dozen companies working on hydrogen solution. We hold expertise in further processing hydrogen, e.g. marine fuels and high-value end products, like raw materials for polymers and chemicals.
