Out of the three EU coordinators leading the fight against racism, only two received upgraded political access this week. ⏫ The only position held by a racialised individual was shamefully left behind. 🚨 ❌ European Commission's decision sends a dangerous signal, creating hierarchies within anti-racism work and #undermining efforts to tackle systemic racism. By prioritising some forms of hatred while sidelining others, the Commission risks fragmenting the fight against racism and betraying the promises etched in the EU Anti-Racism Action Plan (2020–2025). ❌ As the voice of the European anti-racism movement, we demand that the European Commission treats all forms of racism with the urgency they deserve. Elevating the Anti-Racism Coordinator is the first step in demonstrating that tackling systemic racism is not just a symbolic gesture, but a genuine #priority. ⏰ We expect more from the Commission – it's time to act and deliver on its commitments to anti-racism. 🔗 Read our statement: https://lnkd.in/eDdvFuUG. #Racism #EU #Equality #Commission #Discrimination
That’s disappointing. Let’s hope it’s an oversight that will be corrected. But it’s telling that the need to treat all forms of racism equally at the EU Coordinator level has to be pointed out…EU institutions must do better.
Systemic games, a clear signal that the commission is not serious is fighting against racism. Just cosmetic and lips service.
Alexander, graag wat meer uitleg. Waarover en over welke rol gaat het juist?

2wIf the European Commission cannot recognize how flawed this approach is, it speaks volumes about their priorities. If senior political leaders are unable to grasp the severity of the issue, Europe faces a significant problem. Furthermore, if the other two coordinators remain silent, it suggests they are complicit in perpetuating the problem. When leadership fails in such a visible way, it raises concerns about how the system operates on a daily basis. This is unacceptable, and the most damaging aspect is that those entrusted to lead appear to have no clear understanding of how to guide society towards social justice. We are exhausted from having to repeatedly initiate discussions based on what should be common sense—or, more accurately, the lack of it.
