New today: Changes to the make-up of the European Parliament may favour a more lenient approach to vaping as a key tool to help smokers quit, an MEP has said. Current Member of the European Parliament (MEP) Radka Maxová says that newly elected MEPs - following the elections in June - may lead to less restrictive positions on how nicotine alternatives such as vapes are regulated.  However, she says the parliament’s current conservative stance is likely to be reflected in its upcoming proposal of a revised EU tobacco policy framework. Maxová, from the Czech Republic, who serves within the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democratic (S&D) group, told ECigIntelligence: “Of course, the composition of the Parliament can shift the balance of opinion, and so I hope that there will be more advocates of the harm-reduction approach when it comes to tobacco products.” Link below...

Japanese Prime Minister is payed $413,201 Albanese is payed $586,950 or $173,749 more to fail the Australian people. And this is the problem Government from the top down are paid to much, when you compare us to a leading Country like Japan. On a trip to Kobe Animal Kingdom the docks at Osaka and Kobe were full with thousands of cars bound for overseas. Australian docks have no cars. In 8 days we drank Emperor’s own liquor, Japanese sparkling sake, 6 bottles of chilled sake and hot sake, two bottles of Suntory Gin for around $220 Australian. In Australia this volume at Liquor outlets would be over $400. And the Emperors Gin is only available at the Imperial Palace.

Moreover, the legislation seeks to prohibit the consumption of these products in any public space, reflecting the country's strong stance against the rising use of e-cigarettes. The proposed law is part of a broader effort to curb smoking rates, especially among youth, and aligns with Brazil's longstanding regulatory approach. Since 2009, the Brazilian Health Regulatory Agency (Anvisa) has enforced a ban on the sale of e-cigarettes, but usage has continued to grow, particularly among younger demographics.
