Latinx/a/o senior leaders still need to be well-represented in top leadership positions, and more research is needed to close the equity gaps in higher education leadership. The researchers reviewed 57 studies that focused on the experiences of senior Latinx/a/o leaders in colleges and universities. The goal was to give researchers and professionals the tools to understand how these leaders face challenges and opportunities. The authors(Burmicky, Duran, & Muñoz, 2024) present three main ideas that researchers should consider when studying this phenomenon: 1) research on personal qualities and identity differences; 2) studies about how their environment and structures affect their work; and 3) research on their leadership journeys.  https://lnkd.in/gQ3Pn3em

This intelligence is not exclusive to university leaders but crucial for all supporting higher education goals. I'm happy to share my recent chapter contribution to The Handbook for Aspiring Higher Education Leaders is finally published! I've had a copy for a few months now, and have thoroughly enjoyed reading and reflecting on the varied and diverse stories of other folks in higher education. It is important to consider where you are, where you've been, and where you want to go. It's helpful to read the stories of others for affirmation, confirmation, inspiration or even aspiration.
