#CISE, the Common Information Sharing Environment is all about enabling different maritime authorities to have access to additional information across borders and sectors For that reason, last week's CISE stakeholders discussion centred on how to define the new version of the CISE Service Catalogue. Thanks to the enhanced Catalogue, maritime authorities using CISE will be able to keep each other informed about the information available in the network and what information others expect them to provide. What’s more, the new Catalogue can serve them both for operational purposes as well as for technical implementation. Find out more about CISE: https://lnkd.in/gBd5Rr7D #maritime #informationsharing

#ASF2024 20/11/2024. Panel 11. Maritime Security in the Mediterranean Panellists engaged in dissecting unfolding events that call for the revision of the very term “maritime security.” Professor Christian Bueger outlined the wider potential for socioeconomic disruption as critical energy and communications infrastructure extends to the maritime domain. Professor Sofia Galani underscored the added complication of non-state actors, non-recognised states, and non-signatories to UNCLOS, undermining the effort of creating a rules-based maritime security order. An additional complication was signalled by Professor Efthymios Papastavridis, noting that “eyes at sea” increase the obligation for search & rescue operations even as "jurisdiction" and "liability" are still terms open to debate. The underlying question for all speakers was the relevance of UNCLOS as the normative foundation of international cooperation. The debate gravitates between those who do not wish to open a negotiation that can’t reach international consensus and those who feel that the credibility of the regulatory regime rests on its revision.

🤝 Maritime Search and Rescue Council is currently working on a number of vital policy research initiatives in collaboration with the Maritime Emergencies and Coastguard Policy Institute (MECPI), the pioneering think tank dedicated to enhancing maritime safety, SAR and response capabilities globally. At Maritime Search and Rescue Council, we actively support MECPI’s mission by providing data, operational insights, subject matter expertise from our working groups and critical analysis of research and policy recommendations. This collaboration ensures MECPI’s work is informed by real-world experiences and operational realities, helping to close the gap between theory and practice. Together, we are working to improve search and rescue capabilities worldwide, promote international cooperation, and foster the adoption of best practices across the maritime emergency response sector. 👉 Learn more about our collaboration at https://lnkd.in/eh2tBPMh, and MECPI at https://mecp.institute/ #Collaboration #SearchAndRescue #MaritimeSafety #Research #MaritimePolicy #SAR #MSARC #MECPI

On the 9th of April 2024, Project CISE-ALERT has launched its first interoperability tests, dedicated to combatting illegal trafficking at sea. The Kick-off meeting was organized by the Hellenic Ministry of Defence (HMOD), acting as an initiator of the scenario, and was attended by representatives of Secrétariat général de la mer - Premier ministre (SGMer), SHOM, the Italian Coast Guard, Slovenian Maritime Administration (MZl), Bulgarian Executive Agency “Maritime Administration” (EAMA) and Agenzia Dogane e Monopoli - ADM, who discussed the operational readiness and organization of the Interoperability tests. The primary action in the implemented scenario will be to detect, monitor, and intercept vessels, suspected of illegal trafficking in the Black Sea, Aegean Sea, Ionian Sea and Adriatic. The purpose of this action will be to observe the exchange of information from national or EU legacy systems, on suspicious vessels entering or sailing in the vicinity of partners’ territorial waters, through the Common Information Sharing Environment - #CISE. The interoperability tests, which will set the momentum for the CISE-ALERT Endurance Trials, will demonstrate how, with the use of CISE, critical and up-to-date information will be collected from authorities across EU countries and different sectors. The interoperability tests between the Hellenic Ministry of Defence and the other involved partners in the illegal trafficking scenario, namely the Bulgarian Executive Agency “Maritime Administration”, the Slovenian Maritime Administration and the Italian Coast Guards, will continue until the end of this week. More potential contributors from the project partners may also join the trial during the implementation process. The execution of the scenario is expected to be finalized until the end of April 2024. #CISE #CISEtrials #maritimesurveillance

The bill will adress many areas and issues but I am very much interested in the safeguads component to ensure our marine biodiversity are protected from all hazards. Enviromentally proper mitiation measures and questions like the following would be necessary; 1. In the case of capsize of any shipment, boat with hazardous liquids, how would the resue team mitigate the impacts to to be caused? 2. If any hazardous substance like metal crapes, knives, etc. including plastics spillage and reache the sea, how would the resue protocol would adress all these to ensure no impacts are incured to our marine biodiverity like Tuna. by collecting all these items back offshore? 3. If pipes lines under sea/ocean trasporting oil and gas spills, how would the resue team mitigate and racitify the issue? 4. And others requirements When we careful with all these impacts, both lives and marine biodiversity would be safe. I hope we will safeguard our marine lives and the people. #PNGEMMEYAH Cheers!

Register at: https://cvent.me/zGona9 Gideon, Unfortunately, timely topic "Crisis Communications" ... Look forward to another thoughtful and insightful presentation from you tomorrow. During your presentations you typically share playbooks and best practices that can be immediately applied by other professionals. First question: When should have been best for CrowdStrike to update and mention last Friday's incident on their home page? I believe, they first mentioned the incident in a blog requiring 3 levels drill down from the home page, then added a banner with a link to the blog approximately 12 hours after the incident, and have by now, 6 days after the incident, replaced the "CrowdStrike excels in ..." message with a Preliminary Post Incident Review.
