On the cover: Endogenous ether-lipids, alkyl-ether-lipids or alkenyl-ether-lipids, represent a class of membrane lipids generally increased in cancer but decreased in neurological and cardiovascular diseases. We found that while both types of ether-lipids downregulate specific miRNAs leading to the upregulation of SK3, promoting aggressiveness, only alkyl-ether-lipids stimulate SK3 channel activity, whereas alkenyl-ether-lipids reduce it. 🏃♂️💪 The Role of Physical Activity in Health and Disease Prevention Physical activity (PA) reduces morbidity and mortality, aids weight control, and improves quality of life and bone health. It is crucial in managing cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and cancer prevention. PA enhances cancer patient outcomes by reducing chemotherapy side effects, sarcopenia, and recurrence. While optimal PA levels for oncology are not fully established, it is recommended for reducing cancer risk and improving survivorship. Ophthopedia Update:The effect of teprotumumab infusion on ocular alignment in patients with symptomatic thyroid eye disease: Thyroid eye disease (TED) can result in proptosis and ocular misalignment, leading to eye pain, diplopia, and vision loss. Teprotumumab, a humanized antibody against insulin-like growth factor 1 receptor, was approved in 2020 for the treatment of TED.
