🌿 Sustainability in Daily Aromatherapy Practice 🌿 Yesterday was a long but fulfilling day as I balanced my many roles—therapist, educator, and shop owner on a small island in the heart of the Mediterranean. In the evening, I had the honor of speaking at the ICAN International Clinical Aromatherapy Network Spotlight on Sustainability alongside inspiring professionals Helen Nagle-Smith, Christele Durand, and Denise Cusack. I shared my personal insights on sustainable aromatherapy practices, including: ✨ Sourcing oils from suppliers committed to ethical and sustainable practices ✨ Transitioning to glass containers and offering product refills ✨ Exploring local sourcing options, which isn’t always easy on a heavily urbanized island like Malta—but we’re trying wherever possible! ✨ Educating on sustainability through workshops, retreats, TV, online platforms, and lectures ✨ Practical measures like insulation, reverse osmosis, and introducing UV film on windows This session was not just an opportunity to share, but also to learn from the wealth of knowledge and experience the other speakers brought to the table. I am deeply grateful for the chance to be part of such an important conversation. Thank you to ICAN for hosting this event and to everyone working to make sustainability a priority in aromatherapy and beyond! #Aromatherapy #Sustainability #ICAN2024 #EthicalSourcing #SustainableLiving #AromaticWorld

Indeed, not only is the brand the coolest but so are the three founders Roger Nefkens Dennis Kamst and Almar Fernhout. I genuinely think I am the person that has bought and tried every single non-plastic option of toothpaste on the European market. I tolerated some rather bland (I'm being nice), mushy creams only because of how massive the damage of conventional plastic toothpaste tubes are to planet and I was so relieved when I came across Smyle! Finally an option that was better than what we had before. Funny that sometimes we do just love certain brands and SMYLE is one for me. It's fresh, it's non-toxic for your body (many well-known brands of toothpaste contain plastics in the paste you put in your mouth too - have you checked yours?) and it doesn't suffocate wildlife. Smyle is still a young company and yet their impact is already meaningful and growing. Here's a fun fact: People who brush twice a day use an average of 1 toothpaste tube per month. That means that in 2024, thanks to those that opt for Smyle, we will have saved 5 million tubes together. But what if those of you reading that aren't already buying Smyle tried it too and we smashed that number out of the water? Can we make it more than 5 million plastic tubes displaced by the end of the year? I leave it in your hands and will report back at the end of the year. Let me know if the challenge is on.
🎉 WOW! 🎉 SMYLE wins with the COOLEST DUTCH BRAND AWARD! 🏆✨ A huge thank you to our incredible staff and everyone who's been a part of the Smyle journey. This achievement wouldn't have been possible without your hard work and dedication. 🙌 A special shoutout to our fellow finalists, Willicroft and Nature House / Natuurhuisje. It's an honour to be recognised alongside such amazing brands! Joining the ranks of former winning brands like The Good Roll | B Corp, Fairphone, Marcel's Green Soap, VanMoof, The Vegetarian Butcher, and Naturalis Biodiversity Center Nederland is truly humbling. 🌟 Here's to continuing our mission of providing sustainable oral care and making a positive impact on the world! 🌍💚 #CoolestDutchBrand #Smyle #Sustainability #Gratitude #FMCG #Tandarts #retail #cool Fotografie Giuseppe Toppers, Danto Creatieve Communicatie

Sustainability in Wine: Unveiling a New Frontier 🌱 📢 A landmark conference and exhibition on wine sustainability is set to debut in London. The event aims to unite experts from various fields to address the complexities of sustainability in the wine industry. Going beyond the basic definition, the conference will delve into how agriculture, responsible for nearly a third of global greenhouse gas emissions, intersects with wine production. Discussions will include the impacts of climate change on wine cultivation and the industry's efforts to mitigate environmental damage. 🍇 The wine industry holds the potential for positive environmental impacts, from enhancing biodiversity to sequestering soil carbon. To achieve this, producers must blend traditional cultivation methods with scientific innovations like precision viticulture and carbon-neutral glass bottles. This global yet fragmented industry must adapt sustainability models to local climatic conditions, leading to various certifications and practices worldwide. 🛒 Consumers often find the sustainability landscape of the wine industry overwhelming. While retailers strive to simplify choices, producers play a crucial role in storytelling and transparency. By making sustainability part of their brand narrative, they can guide consumers in making informed choices. The diverse geographic spread of wine production means there are multiple "right" answers, making a universal sustainability model impractical. 🌍 Collaboration is key to advancing sustainability in the wine sector. Organisations like the Sustainable Wine Roundtable, International Wineries for Climate Action, and the Porto Protocol are making significant strides. A new event, Sustainability in Drinks (SID), will further this cause. Scheduled for October 14th in London, it will feature keynotes by Jancis Robinson MW OBE and Judith Batchelar OBE, and aims to become a pivotal annual event for the drinks trade. SID's vision is to foster positive change and provide valuable resources for sustainability in the industry. #Sustainability #WineIndustry #ClimateAction #SustainableWine #EnvironmentalImpact #WineConference #SustainablePractices

Sustainable Winegrowing Australia (SWA) have recently released its latest Impact Report illustrating what’s involved in making sustainable wine and how eco-conscious consumers can shop with confidence by looking out for the SWA certified trust mark on bottle. The good news for Aussies, as highlighted in the latest report, is the increasing availability of wines that display the SWA certified trust mark. This mark assures consumers that the vineyard and winery have met sustainability practices via an independent third-party audit and the bottle they are choosing is better for the environment and the planet. As an Aussie wine company that firmly upholds our responsibility to the environment and one of the largest certified Sustainable Winegrowing Australia members (in terms of vineyard planted area), we have been thrilled to work with SWA on the recent report. The team at Duxton Vineyards are proud advocates for sustainable wine production – grape to glass - and seek to assist in reversing agriculture’s adverse contribution to Australia’s environment by applying regenerative farming practices to the land it operates on.
