✨ Last week, we published Version 3 of our Guidance on Improved Collection and Sorting. Workstream 3 Co-Lead Guillermo Vallés Albar, representing ASPAPEL at 4evergreen, explained in more detail what we can expect with the update. 💡 "We are proud to present the outcome of the important work developed by more than 40 company experts involved in all the stages of the packaging recycling chain. And two years and one month after the first proposal... PPWR is here! Today, as last hurdle, the European Council formally adopted the regulation on packaging and packaging waste, a regulation covering the full life cycle of packaging. New challenges, new opportunities for innovation, research, collaboration, and a new common framework for the packaging to be safer and more sustainable. Fasten your seatbelts... this is going to be quite a journey. (The regulation will now be published in the EU’s Official Journal and will enter into force, being applied 18 months after the date of entry into force).

By 31 March 2025, Simpler Recycling will require the collection of the same materials from all non-household municipal premises (such as hospitality businesses). The default requirement will be four containers for: - Residual (non-recyclable) waste - Food waste (including garden waste if appropriate) - Paper and card - All other dry recyclable materials (plastic, metal and glass).
