🌍 Highlighting Good Practice: Interactive Map of the #Aspres Territory 🗺️ The Aspres Territory is known for its popular tourist attractions, such as the Caves BYRRH and Castenou's Castle. However, many visitors often overlook the rich cultural and gastronomic offerings of the lesser-known villages. To address this, the local tourist office installed an interactive map that highlights the beauty and diversity of the 19 villages in the region, encouraging visitors to explore beyond the typical hotspots. The interactive map provides images of each village, details about cultural heritage, and information on various hiking trails, sparking curiosity among visitors. As a result, many have begun booking guided tours to discover the hidden gems of Aspres. Since the installation of the map in 2021, participation in guided tours has risen significantly, with 350 visitors recorded in 2023 compared to 269 in the map's first year. Notably, interest in hikes, particularly the "Roc de Majorca," has surged as well, jumping from 458 visitors in 2022 to an impressive 1,174 in 2023. This initiative not only benefits the tourist office but also boosts local restaurants, accommodations, and cultural sites. #Cheshire’s “world class” tourism gems, including two in #Chester, have again proved their value to the economy after being named amongst England’s most popular paid visitor attractions. Visit England’s newly published 2023 Annual Attractions Survey also reveals that as well as the national success, Cheshire’s much-loved attractions account for almost half of the North West’s top 20 paid visitor attractions. Chester Zoo is ranked third in the table, with 1,835,374 visitors alone in 2023 – a six per cent annual rise. Only the Tower of London and Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew rank higher. It is joined in the table by Tatton Park which was ranked 20th after seeing 720,000 people – a two per cent annual rise - flock to the historic estate in Knutsford.
