🔥🔥🔥 EV explosion, possible terrorist attack 🔥🔥🔥 ***UPDATE: A mix of fireworks and jerry cans of fuel have been confirmed as the cause of the explosion in the Cybertruck, by Las Vegas Police Department. The battery is not believed to be involved in the fire.*** Source: https://lnkd.in/gCqm_Vx6 A #Tesla #Cybertruck has exploded in Las Vegas overnight, killing the driver and injuring 7 others. It is being investigated as a possible terrorist attack and comes hours after a vehicle rammed into crowds celebrating New Years Eve in New Orleans, killing 10, with an Isis flag next to the driver. We’ve been able to verify 24 vapour cloud explosions in electric vehicles globally since 2010, however this footage differs from previous incidents in that: ⚡️ There is no build up of vapour, which is the off-gassing from lithium ion batteries in thermal runaway ⚡️ The force and flame of the explosion is significantly more violent than previously witnessed More to come on this, but our thoughts to the injured. If confirmed as a terrorist incident, this would be the first of its kind that our team has been able to track. #evfire #evexplosion #evemergencyresponse #evbattery #thermalrunaway

From ABC News ‘An official briefed on the investigation told ABC News “this was not a lithium battery” blast, as some have speculated online.’

From Elon Musk, “We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself. All vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of the explosion.” While some have jumped to their own conclusions for various reasons, we are sure there will be more detailed information released following a thorough investigation by experts. The benefit of such a connected vehicle is highlighted here with the ability to interrogate vehicle data. Thoughts go to the innocent people injured in this incident.

So, according to your evaluation, whe EV cars would be also better than ICE one as "unconventional" weapon to make harms magnitude ?

I agree this doesn’t look like a thermal runaway. Lack of any indication, no smoke or vapor release just a boom

This was not an EV battery explosion - not sure why it’s an EV FireSafe issue when it’s terrorism/explosive driven?

Is that a message? Bomb on a cybertruck in front of a Trump hotel. Is the US going from civil war to republican civil war?

I'm expecting at least some detractors out there using this and their misunderstanding, probably seeing this on other social media feeds from the dishonest. Now I'm prepared to deal with any when I'm speaking with the public who say "oh but what about that Tesla that blew up" when referring to this and BEVs.

This is a tragic and alarming incident. While it's a relief to hear that the explosion was not linked to the Cybertruck’s battery, it underscores the evolving complexities of vehicle-related emergencies. The mix of fireworks and fuel points to the broader challenges faced by first responders in identifying and mitigating diverse threats. It's critical that the industry, emergency services, and safety experts continue collaborating to improve response strategies, whether incidents stem from mechanical failures, criminal actions, or other causes. My thoughts are with those affected, and I commend EV FireSafe for providing timely and accurate updates on such critical matters.

Thanks for the update. Sad to see others posting inaccurate information for clicks.

The chemicals that are produced from battery fire are toxic and create the possibility of an additional hazard; what do you think is the best way to combat this?
