As a missionary in Thailand, I’ve witnessed the transformative power of disability ministry. In a context where Christianity’s message often falls flat, disability outreach can revitalize churches, change community perceptions, and communicate the gospel in ways that overcome cultural barriers. 📢 Breaking Barriers for People with Disabilities in Zambia A recent USAID-supported survey that looked at how much differently abled people need supportive tools, and what challenges they face in getting them highlights an 87% unmet need in Northern and Southern Provinces for essential services. This groundbreaking data will guide the development of vision correction service to better serve people with disabilities. Through our strong partnership with Sightsavers, 4,000+ individuals have already benefited by receiving spectacles in these regions. USAID remains committed to building a world where accessibility and inclusion are the norm—not the exception. 🌍✨ #IDPD #DisabilityDay #EveryoneIncluded #GlobalGoal

"Disability is articulated as a struggle, an unnecessary burden that one must overcome to the soundtrack of a string crescendo. But disabled lives are multi-faceted-brimming with personality, pride, ambition, love, empathy, and wit." Sinead Burke July is Disability Pride Month and is an opportunity to honor the history, achievements, experiences, and struggles of the disability community. With a changing landscape comes a changing role for Able Child in how to best support children with disabilities in Africa. For the last 40 years Able Child has been part of a progressive change to support African organisations working to improve the lives of children with disabilities. As our reach has grown over the last ten years, we began a process to analyse what our role has been, what it is now and what it should be in the future. Following an extensive 18-month consultation and review process, we have developed a new way forward. A direction that creates an organisation which is fit for purpose, that builds a model aligned with the interests of our current partners in Africa, and ensures we are best placed to achieve our vision of ensuring no child with a disability is left behind. This is our 2030 Strategy. #disability #inclusion #protect #educate #amplify #2030strategy #weareallable

An important advice that has helped shaped my life over the years is this wise words from Stephen Hawking: “My advice to other disabled people would be, concentrate on things your disability doesn't prevent you doing well, and don't regret the things it interferes with. Don't be disabled in spirit as well as physically." #Disability #Strength #DisabilityInclusion #Accessibility #Neurodiversity.
