What does sustainability truly mean? Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending the launch of Equity Group Holdings’ Sustainability 2023 with the compelling theme: “A Sustainable World is a Transformed Africa This theme, reminded me of 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐬 𝟐:𝟏𝟓, which is a call to us to be stewards of God’s creation. Here are the key Highlights from the Report: 💡Environmental Stewardship - Carbon reduction goals, renewable energy investments, and resource management. 💡Social Impact - Empowering communities, promoting financial inclusion, and fostering a diverse workplace. 💡Governance and Transparency - Ethical practices, stakeholder engagement, and enhanced governance frameworks. I left the summit with renewed commitment and a heart full of hope. This report further inspires me to integrate these Let’s continue this journey together—how are you practicing stewardship in your own life? #Sustainability #Stewardship #FaithAndSustainability #CreationCare #BiblicalPerspective #Genesis215 #EnvironmentalResponsibility

Heartfelt Gratitude to the MAI Foundation Team & Africa Sustainability Week 2024 Committee Members As we wrap up another incredible journey at the Africa Sustainability Week 2024, I am filled with profound gratitude for the MAI Foundation team and our dedicated ASW2024 committee members. Thank you for your resilience, commitment, and unwavering passion. Despite the challenges, you made this year's event possible, turning obstacles into opportunities. Your optimism and drive have shown that together, we can truly create the sustainable Africa we've envisioned. But our journey doesn’t end here. Our Call to Action to other Young Changemakers The road to sustainability is a challenging one, and statistics show that over 50% of African youths are unaware of the pressing challenges we face. In their pursuit of daily survival, many miss the bigger picture. As young leaders who are privileged with knowledge, it is our duty to bring awareness to local and marginalized communities about the sustainability challenges we all face — and how everyone has a role to play in achieving a sustainable future. Here's how we can step up: Raise Awareness: Let’s engage with our communities, educating them on sustainability issues and actionable solutions. Be the Bridge: Leverage our platforms to provide access to information and resources that empower others to make sustainable choices. Empower Every Voice: Champion inclusivity, ensuring marginalized voices are heard in the global sustainability conversation. Lead by Example: Demonstrate how small, consistent actions can create a ripple effect, proving that sustainability is a shared journey. Let’s carry this energy forward in our regions, continuing to be the change-makers Africa needs. Together, we will embody the spirit of "leaving no one behind." #ASW2024 #SustainabilityInAction #MAIFoundation #YouthForSustainability #SustainableAfrica #LeavingNoOneBehind Maryam Bello Chisha Chitundu Jeffrey Adusei Opoku Theophilus Opoh Jonathan Metre Grace Chukwufumanya Ndobu HAMZA IBRAHIM African Union African Development Bank Group United Nations Economic Commission for Africa Felipe Paullier Olivera Pan-African Youth Forum

How can equal, global partnerships help us achieve the Sustainable Development Goals? 🤝 That is one of the key topics at the United Nations General Assembly and the Sustainability Summit NYC. As part of the lead up to the summit, we have spotlighted some of the SDGs which feature prominently on the summit agenda. Now we have reached the one that sets the stage for the entire summit. The SDGs represent a universal call to action for a more sustainable and equitable future for all. #SDG17 encompasses key areas such as finance, technology, trade, and data as well as the key message: the goal of a sustainable future can only be met if we work together. There are many different ways of deepening international partnerships. As highlighted in the Danish government’s new Africa Strategy, Denmark sees great potential for strengthened collaboration. For example in strategic sector corporations which allow Danish ministries, municipalities and other entities to team up with their African sister organizations. These partnerships pave the way for political dialogue on global issues, commercial opportunities, cultural exchange, and new green solutions. Partnerships between the public and private sector are also essential - both in identifying the means necessary in the green transition and in executing them. Often, the private sector perspective can provide a relevant supplement to the insights from academics, NGOs, and policy makers. This partnership-focus will be the foundation of next week’s Sustainability Summit NYC. Diverse voices will take the stage and discuss how real-world partnerships can help push the sustainable agenda forward. #SustainabilitySummitNYC #SDGs #globalpartnerships #UNGA79
