14 YEARS ⏳
LinkedIn reminded me that on Saturday it will be 14 years since I started working at HAVEL & PARTNERS. What has changed in that time? Here are some completely random observations.
🏬 The Firm:
✨ Evolution of Identity: Started as Havel & Holásek, we are now known proudly as HAVEL & PARTNERS.
✨ Growth: From just over 100 lawyers when I started, our family has grown to about 350 dedicated professionals.
✨ Leadership Expansion: Equity partners increased from 6 in 2010 to 19 today.
✨ Antitrust Practice: What began with two of us (do you remember, Lenka Štiková Gachová?) has blossomed into a powerhouse of 30, contributing 9% to the firm’s revenue.
✨ Innovations and Expansions: Introduction of new practices, integration of economists and tax specialists, and opening new offices, including the latest in Frankfurt, Germany
✨ Market Leadership: Undisputedly the largest law firm in the Czech Republic and Slovakia and a leader in the CEE region.
🙋♂️ An the personal reflections?
✨ I started at 33, now I'm 47 (scary?)
✨ I was an associate in 2010, I've been an equity partner since 2015
✨ I still have the same incredible wife Danuše Nerudová (I hope it stays that way!) and one more son (and a dog too!).
✨ I have more wrinkles, but I'm also more confident
✨ I run a lot more, I've started cycling, I exercise regularly, I eat healthier, I sleep longer.
So big thanks to my colleagues and clients for these 14 years. It's actually been a fantastic ride. It is a gift 🎁 to be able to do such interesting work. Over the years I have met so many good and inspiring people, some of whom I can now call friends. I've never worked anywhere for so long and I probably won't work anywhere else for much longer. I hope so! I know that HAVEL & PARTNERS has a great future ahead of it.
And finally, a personal note. Aging is neither a disaster, nor a virtue. But realizing the finiteness of life is a gift - it gives me the ability to focus on the more important things in life and work, not dwelling on the unimportant and not wasting time with people who don't deserve it. This is something I want to continue to improve in and I wish life would give me the strength and time to do so.
So see you in 14 years! 😎
