Lining of piping, rection vessels, storage tanks and other fluid-handling components (e.g., flowmeters, sampling tubes) which would come in repeated and prolonged contact with aggressive chemicals. Use of Everflon™ fluoropolymers prevents corrosion and leakage and extends the lifetime of equipment. For example, unlined metal piping carrying acidic fluids can only last a couple of months, while a fluoropolymer lining can extend that lifetime to more than 20 years. Common failure in mechanical seals——Grooves or corrosion. Grooves or corrosion-In seals with carbon graphite seal faces, dents and corrosion of the seal face can occur. This can be formed when the carbon graphite seal face is incorrectly fitted or when the carbon graphite is partially machined. Improvement measures: 1 Carbon triplex for seals is usually impregnated, and a special type of seal face that is resistant to flaking is used under hot oil conditions (working environment). 2 In order to prevent carbon and graphite corrosion, can choose a non-bonded seal ring. 3 Acid on carbon and graphite are erosive, such as nitric acid, fuming sulphuric acid, need to use PTFE or PTFE-filled sealing surface. #mechanicalseal #seal #pump #waterpump #seals #sealsfailure

In downhole environments, using lined tubing presents a challenge due to the narrowing of the inner diameter caused by the liner's thickness. This issue is especially crucial in rod pump wells with insert pumps. While reducing the pump size is not the ideal solution, it may be necessary to reach fluid targets. An alternative approach is transitioning to larger tubing, such as 3.5-inch tubing in deviated areas, which can still fit inside a 5.5-inch casing with slim hole couplings or turn-down collars. Can I use anti-seize compounds on my gaskets before installation? We do not recommend using metal-based anti-seize compounds on gaskets. The metals in these compounds can adhere to the flange surface under heat and pressure, causing distortion of the flange and/or fill in the serrations. If this condition progresses over time, no amount of additional torque will allow the gasket to seal. Additionally, applying anti-seize to the gasket lubricates the sealing surface, which can lead to issues if gasket compression is lost for any reason. This lubricated gasket can then be extruded, attacked chemically, or forced out of the flange by internal pressure. The friction created by the flange serrations is important here. For these reasons, we recommend against the use of anti-seize. Instead, the key is to keep the flange serrations intact, by making sure they are thoroughly cleaned each time a gasket is changed to maintain its integrity, and achieve good compression on the gasket, with a minimum bolt stress of at least 40% of bolt yield.

Corrosion Under Pipe Support is a very common problem. This video shows how to deal with it using our high-power EMAT device VOLTA, which is capable to detect corrosion on free-standing buried pipes, welded, clamped and many other types of supports. It measures attenuation and/or velocity changes in the signal due to corrosion, cracks or other defects on the supported bottom. Ideal when access to the top of the pipe is possible and to complement circumferential scanning from the side.

Performance characteristics 👇 1. 👍 Excellent corrosion resistance: This is the most prominent feature of steel-lined PTFE storage tanks, enabling them to be widely used in industries such as chemical, pharmaceutical, power, and semiconductor for storing various highly corrosive media. 2. 👍 Good heat resistance: It can be used normally in a relatively wide temperature range and generally can withstand temperatures from -60°C to 200°C. In a high-temperature environment, the PTFE lining can still maintain good performance without softening or deformation. 3. 👍 High mechanical strength: The steel shell provides high mechanical strength for the storage tank, capable of withstanding large pressures and weights, ensuring the safe operation of the storage tank. At the same time, the PTFE lining is closely combined with the steel shell, further enhancing the overall strength of the storage tank. 4. 👍 Good repairability: If there is local damage to the storage tank, it is relatively easy to repair and maintain.
