STEM should serve as the cornerstone of education everywhere. It encompasses much more than just science, technology, engineering, and math. STEM education fosters collaboration, builds confidence, enhances language skills, promotes communication, improves reading comprehension, connects to history, and encourages fluency. In essence, STEM education offers a well-rounded, holistic approach to learning.
Thank you, Jacksonville Elementary School Team, for allowing us to share STEM-based learning with your students and families last night! It was a joy to see familiar faces and parents inquiring about summer STEM camps for their children. Building future leaders is truly fantastic! https://lnkd.in/g3HgVKB2

HCC’s own Bill Boatman is participating in this year’s Leadership Carroll cohort! One of the cohort’s projects this year is to support early literacy in our local community. This includes developing family literacy kits that will be given to new families at Tanner in the month of July, as well as generating support for the existing literacy programs in the county. According to Ferst Readers, 37% of children arrive at kindergarten without the skills necessary for lifetime learning. Not only that, but cognitive processes develop rapidly in the first few years of life. By age 3, roughly 85% of the brain is developed. However, traditional education takes place in grades K-12, which begins at age five. HCC is proud to support Ferst Readers and the West Georgia Regional Library System's 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program. 🎄 Day 6: Six Geese A-Laying 🎄 "Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly." – Langston Hughes In The Twelve Days of Christmas, "Six geese a-laying" represents the six days of creation, where each egg symbolizes the promise of new beginnings. At elevatED Spaces, we embrace this spirit of creation through our work in designing and curating schools that ignite the potential inherent in communities. This year, we reimagined the charter school application process with National Association of Charter School Authorizers (NACSA), collaborating to design frameworks that inspire innovative, community-driven school models. As evaluation experts, we’ve seen one constant: students thrive in schools that reflect and respond to the aspirations of the communities they serve. We believe schools should be more than just institutions—they must be dynamic, student-centered spaces where children are empowered to explore, create, and lead. Whether preparing students for college, career pathways, or project-based learning, schools must rise to meet the demand for innovation while remaining deeply rooted in equity, inclusion, and excellence. ✨ Let’s continue building spaces where every child can dream, discover, and soar. 📚 Today’s ED-Inspired Book - Tar Beach by Faith Ringgold – A story about freedom, dreams, and seeing the world differently. https://lnkd.in/gNKywJqm Join us for elevatED’s 12 Days of Holiday Reflections and Inspiration! From moments that moved us to ideas that spark curiosity, connection, and creativity, we’re unwrapping ED-inspired gifts and experiences to bring joy and meaning to your holiday season. Day 1 of a 2,000-day journey! 👶 After more than 18 months of thoughtful and intentional collaboration, our community has a new Success By 6 Strategic Plan! Our goal: Create a future in which all children enter Kindergarten healthy, happy, and ready to succeed in school and life. Why 2,000 days? 90% of all brain development happens in the first five years, or 2,000 days, of life. Studies have shown that a child’s experiences during those early years literally build the architecture of their brain. Richer early childhood experiences, science has discovered, lead to even more neural connections, which help set children up for lifelong success. Every person and every organization here in our community has the power to help shape the next 2,000 days! Learn more and be a part of the 2,000-day journey: successby6atx.org At United Way for Greater Austin, we’ve been strengthening the local early childhood education sector for nearly two decades through innovative programming and facilitating the Success By 6 Coalition. Nurturing our youngest is the key to unlocking a future of equality and prosperity while providing their parents flexibility and mobility.
