The EIC Pathfinder falls under the Horizon Europe program and provides assistance to research teams by funding projects that aim to establish the scientific foundation for groundbreaking technologies. This support extends to early-stage research in scientific, technological, and deep-tech fields, with a focus on exploring new and innovative directions in science and technology to disrupt industries and create new opportunities. The program also helps in developing and scaling up innovative technological solutions that can lead to breakthrough technologies and disruptive innovations in Europe. Grant funding is available for early-stage technology development, with grants of up to 3 to 4 million euros for activities at low Technology Readiness Levels (TRL 1-3) up to proof of concept. Additionally, Pathfinder projects may receive extra funding to test the innovation potential of their research outcomes. Beneficiaries of the program have access to tailored Business Acceleration Services (BAS), including global partnerships, coaching, mentoring, expertise, training, and connections to the innovation ecosystem and peers. Today we'll describe the #EICAcceleratorChallenges ➡ You have to meet the predefined Objectives for EIC Accelerator Challenges: 🔹Human Centric Generative AI made in Europe 🔹Enabling virtual worlds and augmented interaction in high-impact applications to support the realization of Industry 5.0 🔹Enabling the smart edge and quantum technology components 🔹Food from precision fermentation and algae 🔹Monoclonal antibody-based therapeutics for new variants of emerging viruses 🔹Renewable energy sources and their whole value chain including materials development and recycling of components ➡Beneficiaries: SMEs, Startups, Small mid-caps, natural persons from EU Member States (and associated countries) ➡ TRL requirement: the product/ service must be at least at 5 TRL and have the potential to develop towards 8TRL (or higher) ➡The submission process: I stage – short proposals application - any time, II stage – full proposals application – until 3rd October 2024, III stage – interview panel with 3 experts Jury. ➡How much you can get? 🔹 The 2024 budget allocated for EIC Accelerator Challenges is €300 million. 🔹 Grant funding scheme allows beneficiaries to apply for: 🔹 2,5 million EUR grant for innovation activities taken 24 months (5-8 TRL), 🔹 15 million EUR as investment component, for market deployment (TRL 9) which lasts 7-10 years (so called “patient capital”) 🔹 Funding rate: up to 70%   ❗ Attention! 💥 Exciting news: official creation of start-up Nellow! As a result of 15 years' research at SPINTEC (CEA-Irig, Université Grenoble Alpes, CNRS) and Laboratoire Albert Fert (CNRS, Thales, Université Paris-Saclay) laboratories, Nellow tackles a key environmental and industrial issue: reducing the energy consumption of microelectronic chips for logic and AI.  📢 Indeed, the CEA-Irig has been supporting this incubated start-up created by Jean-Philippe Attané (UGA), Laurent Vila (CEA) et Manuel Bibes (CNRS) on October 7, 2024. In particular, the SPINTEC laboratory is supporting Nellow in its journey to bring this technology to the market.
