We have some amazing people at Evozyne. For example: Rhiannon LaVine, Ph.D. When she's not digging into data, Rhiannon enjoys digging into the Earth. That led to a history-making discovery.

🤔 What is knowledge, anyway, and how can we represent it explicitly through an #ontology or a #knowledgeGraph? 📽️ In this excerpt of my recent talk Knowledge-Driven Data Management that I gave at Big Data LDN with Jacopo Aliprandi, you'll find a possible answer. 👇 If you’d like to watch the full talk, you can find the link to the recording in the comments along with the link to the slides. #TheDataJoy

I'm a fan of building in public, so excited to share that Juan Cruz Viotti and I are making great progress on iterating on our intelligence.ai studio platform, which is open source and is meant to make it super easy to define concepts in a business glossary. These definitions are important so that when your data column says "temperature", you can point to a specific url that states whether the column references (for example), Celsius or Fahrenheit. Our Studio automatically generates JSON Schema so that your definitions are both human and machine readable. If you are interested in being a beta (private) partner to test it out and give us feedback, please reach out or tag me in the comments. Cheers, Ron =D #openscience #data #ontology #json #jsonschema #networkscience

Happy National Postdoc Appreciation Week! In honor of this week, we’re highlighting some of our current postdocs and the remarkable research they’re doing. Meet Nikunj Goel, a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Statistics and Data Sciences, The University of Texas at Austin. Nikunj is part of a team that has been studying populations of soapberry bugs in Houston. After an intense hurricane in Houston in 2017 created a patchy landscape where some areas were completely flooded and others spared, the researchers noticed an unusual detail about the soapberry bugs that recolonized previously flooded areas. In this Nexus Point episode, Nikunj explains how this curious observation about the wing lengths observed in these new populations of soapberry bugs has sparked a new concept in evolution. Known as spatial sorting, this phenomenon can be triggered by extreme weather events and offers a novel perspective on evolution. Read more about his research and the impacts of extreme weather on ecosystems at https://lnkd.in/gE_4CNv5. #TexasScience #UTAustin #UTPostDocResearch #NexusPointUT #StatisticsAndProbability #InsectEvolution #Evolution #ExtremeWeather #NationalPostdocAppreciationWeek #Postdoc The University of Texas at Austin

Graph RAG was supposed to be a game-changer for search and data retrieval, but it showed its real-world flaws: speed, cost, scalability, and accuracy. That's where SemDB jumps in. Driven by Ontology-Guided Augmented Retrieval (OGAR), SemDB is redefining the game by focusing on the meaning of data when it comes to indexing, retrieving, and acting—not just cosine similarity. Hello friends!! #CodSoft #DataScience Task 3 IRIS FLOWER CLASSIFICATION The Iris flower dataset consists of three species: setosa, versicolor, and virginica. These species can be distinguished based on their measurements. Now, imagine that you have the measurements of Iris flowers categorized by their respective species. Your objective is to train a machine learning model that can learn from these measurements and accurately classify the Iris flowers into their respective species. Use the Iris dataset to develop a model that can classify iris flowers into different species based on their sepal and petal measurements. This dataset is widely used for introductory classification tasks.

I've recently participated in a DataCamp competition as a Gaza Sky Geeks student, and I'm thrilled to share my solution with you all! 📊💡 This competition consists of two parts, one is analyzing dinosaur dataset, and the second part is about films. The first part aimed to make an Exploratory data analysis (EDA), by utilizing python, matplotlib, and pandas to visualize and draw valuable insights from data, and the whole proccess starts from handling data problems such that missing values, handle these errors, then finally plot the desired insights. The second part is to draw insights from films database, and draw insights using SQL commands. I would be grateful for your support! If you find my solution valuable or interesting, please take a moment to view it and give an upvote. Your support can make a significant difference and will be a great encouragement for me. 👍 Solution: https://lnkd.in/dv8KxgBK Thank you in advance for your support, and feel free to reach out if you'd like to discuss data science, this competition, or any related topics! #DataScience #DataCamp

Research #data should be made openly available - the danger of valuable data being lost on old hard drives is just too high. Many scientific journals today require the deposition of data in suitable databases. However, the quest to make research data truly #FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) is an ongoing one! In the new (PAGES) Past Global Changes Magazine, we report on the mission and conceptual progress of making #paleofire data FAIR. This will be achieved by integrating the extensive Global Paleofire Database as a new constituent database into the established, community-curated #Neotoma Paleoecology Database. This step will have benefits for both data curators (e.g., receiving digital object identifiers / #DOIs) and data users (e.g., improved data harmonization and possibility to quickly compare paleofire data with other proxy data), but a lot of work is still ahead. Read our report here: https://lnkd.in/gfaG8KSx Full reference: Dietze E., Marlon J., Goring S., Gavin D.G., Bartlein P., Glückler R., Williams J. (2024): First steps toward integrating the Global Paleofire Database with Neotoma. PAGES Magazine, Volume 32. DOI: 10.22498/pages.32.2.140
