Will eVTOLs Redefine Regional Air Travel? Spain-based CRISALION Mobility, an eVTOL design and development company, has signed a cooperation agreement with U.S.-based UrbanLink Air Mobility to supply 20 Integrity aircraft. This partnership aligns with both companies’ visions for expanding Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) services and transforming regional air travel into a more sustainable, efficient, and all-electric experience. With this agreement, CRISALION’s total pre-sales of Integrity eVTOLs rise to 145 across four continents. The Integrity aircraft, designed for up to five passengers plus a pilot, leverages FlyFree technology to enhance comfort, reduce emissions, and support urban and intercity transport. Advanced Aerial Mobility is coming.... with billions of dollars being invested by incumbents and new entrants in the development of air taxi prototypes. ... But once the aircrafts are flying, the missing piece of the ecosystem will be where the aircrafts are landing... Under this proposal, “waterfront sites seem to be one of the most practical solutions to retrofit cities for Advanced Air Mobility, as they provide the safest access for electric air taxis in terms of aviation requirements for clear approach and departure paths.” …. “Waterfront sites are also likely to be one of the few places where land can be found to accommodate terminals and there is also the option for floating landing pads.” The idea here is to create a network of new vertiport hubs in waterfront cities around the world, integrated into the wider system of multimodal mobility. #waterfront #cities #urbanregeneration #urbandevelopment #urbanplanning #innovation #mobility #sustainability

How will the development of the UK’s first vertiport testbed impact the future of urban air mobility? Skyports Infrastructure, a leader in vertiport infrastructure for the advanced air mobility (AAM) industry, and Bicester Motion, the 444-acre future mobility estate in Bicester, Oxfordshire, have celebrated the groundbreaking of the UK’s first vertiport testbed. This milestone, a key output of the AtkinsRéalis UK Research and Innovation Advanced Mobility Ecosystem Consortium under the Innovate UK Future Flight Challenge project, marks a significant advancement in electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aviation. The vertiport, situated on a 0.42-acre plot, includes a 160 sq m passenger terminal and is adjacent to Bicester Motion’s existing general aviation grass runways. Scheduled for completion in early 2025, the facility will be essential for testing eVTOL flight operations, ground infrastructure, and air traffic management, fostering the next generation of electric, low-noise aviation in the UK. Daniel Geoghegan, CEO of Bicester Motion, highlighted the strategic importance: “It’s great to see Skyports’ vertiport being built right here in Bicester. This vertiport testbed supports our vision to integrate traditional and vertical aviation operations, enhancing future mobility discovery.” Duncan Walker, CEO of Skyports, added: “We are one step closer to delivering our vertiport at Bicester Motion. The Lombardy region is home to nearly a fifth of Italy’s population and receives over 37 million visitors annually. Regional air mobility will integrate with existing mobility solutions, providing faster, low-emission travel between key locations. The companies plan to launch a vertiport network with operators of the Lilium Jet by 2027. SEA will contribute as a majority shareholder, offering airport management capability and regional aviation expertise. Skyports will provide its experience in developing vertiport infrastructure, working closely with SEA on operations. Lilium brings aircraft expertise through its pioneering Lilium Jet, which reportedly offers industry-leading capacity, operational range at high speed, minimal noise, and zero operating emissions.
