Iraq has made significant progress towards water sustainability and management by becoming the first country in the Middle East to join the Convention on the Protection and Use of Transboundary Watercourses and International Lakes, also known as the UN Water Convention or Helsinki Water Convention. This achievement is a significant step towards the responsible management of transboundary water resources, which is crucial for the preservation of our planet's natural resources. Iraq's commitment to this convention will serve as a model for other countries in the region to follow. #Iraq #WaterSustainability #TransboundaryWaterManagement #UNWaterConvention #HelsinkiWaterConvention

Water scarcity is a pressing issue in #Jordan, one of the world’s most water-scarce countries. Climate change, combined with aging physical networks accentuate the challenge. The good news is that cutting water loss by half can supply water to about half a million people in the country. With this in mind, we signed today an agreement with the Government of Jordan to support Jordan Water Company "Miyahuna", led by its CEO Mohammad Ouran to tackle this challenge head-on. The collaboration agreement aims to: ➡ 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝗿𝗼𝘀𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸. ➡ 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 ➡ 𝗘𝗻𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 I had a productive meeting to discuss this matter with H.E. Zeina Toukan, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation of Jordan; and H.E. Raed M. Abu Soud, Minister of Water and Irrigation. I'm confident this partnership will pave the way for a new chapter in Jordan's journey to address its water-related challenges and secure sustainable growth. https://lnkd.in/dehy2iwD

This #EarthDay, protecting our natural water resources is a top priority. In #Ethiopia, our partners apply climate resilient practices to water resource management: https://lnkd.in/eUXyY4VH Addressing water security is crucial as increased droughts, floods and human activities negatively impact the quality and quantity of water available for human needs. Through a new joint framework with the Ministry of Water and Energy (MoWE) in Ethiopia and our local partners, our Safe Water initiative hopes to achieve professional, sustainable and affordable safe water services throughout rural communities in Ethiopia.
