Government initiatives to streamline processes have played a crucial role in this growth. Industry insiders predict the total count could reach approximately 340 by year-end, up from 240 in 2023. This boost is largely due to enhanced operational efficiencies implemented by the Ministry of Transport, including a new digital platform that simplifies the registration and itinerary submission process for yacht owners and agents. This system ensures that all required data and documents are handled efficiently, with approvals for visit programs now processed within 30 minutes—a significant improvement from the previous 15-30 day waiting period. Moreover, the Suez Canal Authority has introduced a discount strategy, slashing fees by up to 50%, making Egypt's ports more attractive to yacht owners worldwide. In a strategic move to bolster yacht tourism further, the Ministry of Transport, in partnership with Abu Dhabi Ports Group, began managing and operating three key maritime stations—Safaga, Hurghada, and Sharm El Sheikh—under a 15-year renewable contract initiated last January. Egypt boasts 23 marinas and dedicated berths for yachts, with significant activity concentrated in the Mediterranean region, which attracts over 30,000 yachts annually.
