AI will be transformational for the organisations who can maximise its benefits, whilst not losing the human skills and qualities, particularly in areas of creativity, empathy, communication and analysis, which have made them successful to date. Humans will remain very much essential because they are human, but relying simply on this will not be enough in a competitive AI-led landscape. It is incumbent on the humans leading and developing these organisations to identify the right people, skills and team evolution that can make the transition to AI transformation a success. In the final chapter of our report issued earlier this year: ‘Human Capital – Can we bring artificial and human intelligence together?’ we look at how organisations are integrating AI into their workplaces to enhance their human capital, rather than replace it. The knowledge and expertise within the global AI ecosystem is still quite tightly contained and that presents a significant challenge for mass adoption and means a greater consolidation of control in a smaller number of companies or individuals. If AI is to generate the revolution in workforce development and deployment, greater knowledge and skills enhancement is paramount. More transparency will be essential to ensure ethical practice. Investment at an operational and strategic level both in the technology, but even more importantly in developing skills, is the simple reality for organisations looking to succeed. If you are interested in this particular area or would like to find out understand some of the priorities senior executives need to be considering as they progress in the AI journey take a look at this chapter from Marcus Giorgi from Panorama partner firm EXEC in Brazil.
