I had the pleasure of attending the DCD15-IMDRC6 joint conference in beautiful Ghent last week! 🏛️🌍 It was an inspiring event and an incredible opportunity to connect with esteemed colleagues and dive deep into the latest research on Motor development and Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD). I was honoured to give an oral presentation on the qualitative evaluation of paper cutting in typically developing children and children with DCD. 📝✂️ This research sheds light on the distinct differences in motor performance and the challenges faced by children with DCD, providing insights that can enhance educational and therapeutic strategies. Together with researchers, clinicians and people with experience we discussed the role of observational assessments in clinical practice. While advanced technology is often confined to research settings, observational methods remain invaluable for diagnosing and supporting children and adults in real-world clinical environments 📹. 🌟A key takeaway from the conference was the importance of transdiagnostic approaches—understanding and addressing common factors across different disorders. This perspective is essential for my PhD project and I am excited to explore further.🌟 It was thrilling to share our findings and to learn from the innovative work of others in the field. The exchange of ideas and community at the conference was truly inspiring. Overall, it was a fantastic experience to learn so much and connect with my colleagues in the field. I’m looking forward to applying these insights to advance our research and make a meaningful impact!🙌 #DCD15 #IMDRC6 #ChildDevelopment #MotorDevelopment #Research #PaperCutting #DevelopmentalCoordinationDisorder #Transdiagnostic #ObservationalAssessment #Networking #Ghent

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center unveiled a new name for a decades-old program recently. The Nadine and Tom Craddick Physician Assistant Studies Program honors Rep. Tom Craddick and his wife Nadine, who have been instrumental in starting and maintaining the program. During the 86th legislative session in 2019, Craddick helped secure $20 million in state funding that enabled the TTUHSC School of Health Professions Physician Assistant Studies Program to undertake a $30 million expansion completed in 2022. TTHSC President Lori Rice-Spearman, Ph.D., said these state-of-the-art spaces ensure the university is equipped to train the next generation of physician assistants in West Texas.

When in the pipeline do you start training to perform under pressure?
Chief Medical Officer at The Mission Critical Team Institute | ER Doctor | Applying Knowledge Under Pressure
It's never too early in the process to start learning about performing at our best when we're needed the most. I had an great time last week bringing our work from the Mission Critical Team Institute to some amazing undergraduate students in the University of Southern California pre-health program on an introduction to medicine under pressure. We worked on training to perform under adverse conditions like we see in emergency medicine -- the students learned to identify signals of stress and overwhelm in themselves and their teammates, and we put them in the hot seat as the head of a simulated trauma team with a great tactical decision game. Thank you to Emily Rose from Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California for the invitation - coming back later in the month to work with Glenn R. Fox PhD and the Lloyd Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies - USC Marshall! The Emergency Mind Project #missioncriticalmedicine #humanperformance #tdgs

UCRH leads a major research project evaluating allied health student placements in rural residential aged care homes. This work is supported with funding from the Australian Government, but it would not be possible without the involvement of key partner Whiddon and important research input from Southern Cross University and University of Sydney. Our director Victoria Flood recently spoke with Karn Nelson, Whiddon's Executive General Manager, Research & Positive Ageing to get her insights on the partnership. She shares some fantastic insights in this video.
