Communicating Corporate Strategy Within the Organization In 1998, Mr. Salem Al-Ayed was appointed Vice President of Gas Operations at #Udhailiyah, the administrative center in ARAMCO’s southern region. Many of my colleagues at #ARAMCO likely remember him well, as he later became Senior Vice President. Mr. Salem held one-on-one meetings with new graduate employees to discuss the company’s strategic objectives. These meetings were not only an honor for everyone involved but also a pivotal moment for those who met him, helping them grasp the essence of corporate strategy early in their careers. I didn’t fully appreciate the effectiveness of this approach in engaging everyone and aligning them with the company’s strategy until I found myself needing to communicate corporate strategy within our own organization #IMI   So, what exactly is Communicating Corporate Strategy? It is the process of effectively sharing a company’s strategic goals with its employees. This communication is crucial for ensuring that everyone in the organization understands the direction the company is heading and their role in achieving those goals. It acts like an internal compass, guiding everyone on where they need to go in alignment with the company’s strategic goals. Imagine an army preparing to engage an enemy without knowing their position, or a football team facing an opponent without a clear target. The classic book The Art of War by Sun Tzu highlights the necessity of always knowing your direction in times of conflict. In the same way, clear communication of corporate strategy is vital for steering an organization toward success.

Return back to my favorite practice ✌️ Last week, I had the opportunity to lead a technical workshop focused on optimizing lubrication units in Ball Mills at Lafarge Egypt. The session provided valuable insights into the crucial role lubrication plays in improving equipment efficiency and extending the lifespan of critical machinery. One of the key objectives of the workshop was to share best practices for reducing wear and tear, minimizing downtime, and ultimately enhancing the Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF). Through targeted discussions and hands-on demonstrations, we explored advanced lubrication techniques, the importance of proper maintenance schedules, and how to proactively identify potential issues before they cause costly failures. It was an engaging and collaborative session with team members across departments, and I’m proud to say that the knowledge shared will have a significant impact on improving our plant’s overall reliability and productivity. I was honoured to receive this gift from ARAMCO head quarter in Dhahran. This book is narrating the success story of executing the biggest crude oil Project ever built in the history to produce 1.2 MMBCD:- The Main Commodities are:- > 153 Millions Construction Manhours ,Equivalent to 25,000POB > 700,000 M3 Concrete > 87,000 Ton steel > 2000 KM, Line pipes > 14,000 KM cables > 30 Substations & buildings This Massive Project was planned to be built over 5 years, and executed over many locations (UK, Italy, KSA, Korea, & Canada)… The most important success factors were: - 1)  Selecting the right team leaders. 2)  Managing the communications, interfaces, between stakeholders. 3)  Plan, stick to the Plan and always deliver. The main lessons learned from this story are: - 1)  The leaders of an integrated team must have the right personality traits so that harmony results. 2)  Top management active commitment is necessary to success. 3)  Fostering collaboration among empowered, independent teams is essential to achieving complex program’s overall goal. 4)  Strategies for contracting, risk analysis and use of best practices are fundamental to good planning. The project management principals applied in such project have been taught in the biggest universities as best practices, & also used as case studies in white papers in some researches.
