Yesterday, Lizzie Shupak and I talked at the third installation of The Steps Collective. Lizzie reflected on how we orientate ourselves, practically and psychologically, through our respective regenerative practices. I explored a some of the emerging thoughts I've been exploring this year on how Participatory Futures might be 'The Punk to Foresight's Prog', and how that chimes with some of the things we tried last week at Future Days, and where these things might be further improved for future things like this. In the aftermath too, we started hatching some awesome plans about future editions of The Steps Collective - sign up here to follow along: https://lnkd.in/eNJQGYGh #regenerative #regenerativefutures #participativefutures #futures https://lnkd.in/e4YzQtRc

According to the educational foundation of the Hydraulic Institute the majority of a pump’s lifetime-cost is tied to it’s operation & maintenance. With less than 20% associated to the pump’s purchase-and-install. And the potential energy-savings are anywhere from 20% and as high as 40% with pump system optimizations. And GRUNDFOS pumping technology is at the forefront of those pump-optimization-capabilities with: - Large-capacity - upto 30 HP - ECM (>IE5) pump-motor-technology. - Dedicated-integrated-pump-controls programmed with the pump’s operational (curve) profile - which ensures it operates at it’s highest efficiency. - Auto-adapt control features which utilize onboard sensors to automatically determine the system’s ‘true’ curve-profile - in real-time - and adapt the pump’s operational-curve-profile to match and maintain efficiency under shifting system loads. - Fully-integrated-multi-pump-skid-controls (the CU 352 v5) with intelligent (algorithm-based) pump-sequencing for optimization of the entire pump-platform. - Distributed-Pumping-Systems which eliminate losses associated with low delta-T across a chiller as-well-as - by-way of replacing pressure-regulators with sensor-based-operation smart-ECM-circulators in the system’s distribution-network - greatly reducing pump-energy-losses associated with line-restriction-based flow-regulation. With more available and more-to-come… Hydraulic Institute Reference Document: https://lnkd.in/g7na4XSZ
“Energy efficiency is the low-hanging fruit in climate change, because the cheapest and least-polluting energy is what you don’t use.” – Art Rosenfeld This #EarthMonth, we recognize Art Rosenfeld, a distinguished scientist, scholar-activist, and public servant at Berkeley Lab, known for his pivotal role in advancing #EnergyEfficiency. His work continues to shape the field even today. 🌍🌟 University of California, Berkeley

In the Year 2525 by Zager and Evans is more than just a song. It's a cautionary tale that warns us about the potential future of humanity. The lyrics paint a bleak picture of a world where technology has taken over. People rely on pills to dictate their thoughts, machines take over basic bodily functions, and human connection becomes sterile and artificial. The song ends with the extinction of humankind by the year 9595, hinting that our dependence on technology might lead to our downfall. However, there's a tiny glimmer of hope at the end. The song repeats, suggesting that maybe in another reality, humanity learned from its mistakes. In today's world, where technology is advancing at an incredible pace, this song serves as a reminder to be mindful of how we develop and use technology. We need to ensure that we don't become overly reliant on technology and that we continue to nurture human connection. Let's learn from the warnings in this song and use technology to better our world, rather than letting it lead to our downfall. #technology #future #cautionarytale #IntheYear2525

Our regular contributors Prof Christian Nielsen and Prof Jacob Brix from Denmark continue to explore the concept of Society 5.0 – a sustainable, inclusive and human-centred ’society of the future’. They discuss how a city, region or group of organisations can initiate a collaboration built on Society 5.0 principles and propose a new level in the theory of organisational learning – a 6i framework, where ‘i’ stands for ‘inspiration’. https://lnkd.in/gYu-kCs5

Climate justice and criminal justice/injustice are two issues that may not seem connected at first glance. However, this video shared by Othering & Belonging Institute at UC Berkeley and Safe Return Project helped me understand the intersection between the two. Check it out! #climatejustice #criminaljustice #socialjustice I love the how this video speaks the truth about we have enough for everyone. We have enough, for all, for everyone. No if, ands or buts. Looks like another example of power of the platform and extractive industrial practices taking advantage of people. Real research gains must look at citizen science now we have wider outreach. https://lnkd.in/dkUmCVSX

For those of you that are interested, here is the link to my TedxTalk. This was an amazing experience not just to be able to speak of such an important topic on a great platform, but to be able to share space with the other amazing presenters, many of which were still on their educational journey at University of North Carolina at Charlotte . To see more of these presentations check out Tedx Talks on Youtube or search Tedx UNC Charlotte!

It is the International Day of Conscience. Today, let's promote awareness of the importance of conscience and its role in personal decision-making, as well as in promoting peace, justice and sustainable development within our organization. Get your team together and allow them to create a guideline for internal purposes by following ethical rules to encourage peace, love and conscience between one another. Once done, display these new internal guidelines in your office. Make sure that everyone try their best to adhere to these guidelines. #CelebratingTogetherness #CelebratingCompassion #CelebratingHope
