🤖 AI will not relieve HR from the need to think 🤖 This week, I spent two days at the #UNLEASHWORLD2024 conference, with its inspiring slogan "Where the HR world meets." For me, such conferences have always been a place to exchange practices and broaden my perspective. I've been fortunate to have a CIPD education that has surrounded me with top-tier HR experts, but not everyone has that opportunity. For many early-career professionals, these conferences are their only chance to see how things are done elsewhere, absorb best practices, and think, "How can I apply this in my company?" However, what I witnessed felt more like a vanity fair, with endless attempts to convince everyone that AI is the silver bullet to solve all HR problems. AI can indeed be a fantastic tool, but it will never replace the need for HR professionals to develop strong business acumen, learn to speak the language of finance, and deliver data-driven solutions—not to mention building logical communication with employees while maintaining empathy. Unfortunately, I saw very little of this, and I also noticed a lack of willingness to share best practices. Google, with all due respect and admiration for your products, discussing research projects that few can afford due to budget constraints doesn’t quite hit the mark. Imagine the gratitude from the HR community if you shared practical, real-world case studies that actually work. That’s why I want to especially thank Alexis Barnes-Wright, Head of HR (Paul Smith), for openly sharing his experience on Connecting Global Employees. I truly believe it’s time to rethink the concept of such conferences, to move away from "how do we spend our massive marketing budget?" and return to the true goal—developing and connecting HR experts.

🎉 We're thrilled to share that our Country Manager, Nancy Wang, recently participated in a prestigious HR summit organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in China (AmCham China). ✨ Nancy had the honor of standing before business leaders and HR experts to discuss the future of the HR industry and share insights from LinkedIn. Her passion for identifying and retaining exceptional talent, especially in today's rapidly changing workplace powered by AI, was evident throughout her presentation. 🚀 Nancy highlighted the "bottom-up AI-driven work storm" that's taking shape, with a remarkable increase in AI usage worldwide. On LinkedIn alone, we've seen a 150x jump in individuals incorporating AI skills into their profiles. 📈 The 2024 Work Trend Index Annual Report, a collaboration between Microsoft and LinkedIn, revealed a significant disparity between employees eager to integrate AI into their work and organizations yet to provide such opportunities. Nancy emphasized the critical role HR plays in bridging this gap. 💼 Nancy shared our vision at LinkedIn of leveraging AI for business growth, highlighting the strategic importance of HR in aligning talent strategies with business goals. 🔍 AI plays a pivotal role in every stage of talent management, from sourcing to retention. The HR Evolution event, organized by iKN Spain, brought together prominent international experts to discuss the present and future of human resources in Spain, and how the integration of AI into the workplace will impact both employees and companies. One significant conclusion drawn from this gathering is that a considerable number of Spanish companies have already implemented Artificial Intelligence tools in their human resources operations. Specifically, 46% of them utilize this technology for data measurement and analysis, 38% for task optimization, and 36% for process automation. Despite this trend, Eva Astorga, Manager Hub of Methodologies at Mahou San Miguel, emphasized the importance of maintaining human essence and effectively combining it with new tools. She stressed that humanistic disciplines are essential for advancing society and businesses. During one of the event’s panels, Cristina Peláez Avezuela, HR Director at Lener, highlighted the concerning statistic that 68% of companies applying technology do not provide training for their employees. This lack of training negatively impacts productivity and the quality of results. Furthermore, due to the rapid evolution of these solutions, organizations must provide training to their employees every 6 to 12 months. “Often, company personnel are not trained in new things, and this is essential because there will always be novelties in all markets,” asserted David Claramunt, Workforce Planning and Personnel Knowledge at Banco Sabadell. What an incredible way to start my day today, moderating the Virtual HR Leaders Exchange connect, powered by People 1st | Global HR Executive and SmartRecruiters. It was amazing to connect with such a diverse group of HR professionals from Azerbaijan, Poland, Romania, Slovenia, Switzerland and UK and dive into the potential of AI in our field. We explored AI use cases, tackled barriers and limitations, and reflected on the upcoming AI Act and its implications for our work. The open exchange of ideas was a great reminder that while AI holds immense potential, it’s up to us to implement it responsibly and ensure it complements, rather than replaces, the human element in HR. Looking forward to continuing these conversations and seeing the innovative solutions that emerge from our shared learnings! Shall we meet again next year to see the progress of AI in our plans, Lauren Olivia Knight, Fenella Wenham, Sarah Wauer, Alicja Kryczalo-Lara, Corina Groza, Justyna Jedlińska-Molenda, Kryczalo-Lara, MBA, Michal Guz, Mojca Grafenauer, Noni Tandon, Orkhan Safarli, SHRM-SCP ? #HRLeaders #AIinHR #TalentAcquisition #HRTransformation #FutureofWork #AIAct
